Doesn't seem like it is picking up very well. Not sure if the roller is working right

Your belt is probably worn or stretched and there for not turning the roller brush the way it should. You should replace that belt at least once a year. If you haven't replaced it recently I would try that. Here is a link to the belt you need:

My Kirby 2HD has started making an odd roaring noise but still works fine. I have taken the front assembly off and cleaned and adjusted the roller and checked the belt. The noise seems to come from the...

It is quite possible, it just needs lubed. The motor comes in direct contact with dirt so, you have to make sure the front bearing has a drop of oil on it from time to time. If it starts to scream at you within one month, after oiling, the bearing needs to be replaced.

Manual please or help

Below is a link to GoodVac.com. They have a Kirby G6 Manual for $9.30. Although it is labeled for the G6, it is applicable to models G3 through the Sentria. ("G" = Generation)

How do you install the belt on the kirby vacuum?

Step 1:
UNPLUG YOUR KIRBY VACUUM CLEANER. Before you go any further, take your time with this belt change. It's not that difficult, just a little different than most other vacuums. These belts are very easy to find on the internet. kirby-oldstyle1.jpg Step 2:
You should be facing the front of your Kirby vacuum. The height adjustment lever will be on your right. Push the lever all the way down. Lift the light hood with your left hand. Turn theKirby vacuum belt lifter counter-clockwise with your right hand. Unlock the accessory lock. The accessory lock is located under the light hood. Move the lock to the left to disengage it. Remove the front of the vacuum cleaner.
kirby-oldstyle2.jpg kirby-oldstyle2a.jpg Step 3:
Turn the vacuum belt lifter all the way clockwise until the belt drops down. Unlock the roller plate by releasing the two latches on the rear. Pull the roller plate up slightly and then off. kirby-oldstyle3.jpg kirby-oldstyle3a.jpg
Step 4:
Bend one end of the roller bracket just enough to remove the roller. Remove this end of the roller. If you need to replace the roller take it all the way out. Remove any carpet fiber, string, or hair from the roller with a scissor.

kirby-oldstyle4.jpg kirby-oldstyle4a.jpg Step 5:
After you have removed the old belt, slide the new one back on the middle of the roller. If you're Kirby vacuum cleaner has a belt indicator light, the roller will have a magnet built onto one end of it. It's very important to install to install a roller with a magnet on the same side as the indicator light. The roller actually will only fit into the roller plate one way.
kirby-oldstyle4.jpg Step 6:
Place the roller back in the roller bracket. Place the roller bracket back and lock it into place with the 2 latches. Rotate the vacuum cleaner belt lifter counter-clockwise. You should feel the the belt catch. Look inside to make sure the belt is being stretched onto the vacuum belt lifter. Reassemble the machine. After you have reassembled your Kirby, turn the belt lifter cockwise, releasing the vacuum belt onto the vacuum motor shaft. kirby-oldstyle2.jpg

Kirby Generation 3

PUll the roller brush out and make sure it turns freely by hand. If not clean all hair and debris off the roller brush, you might also remove the end caps (one at a time) and clean the hair out from the bearings underneath the cap (in the shop I use WD-40 and a non-serated pairing-knife). Replace caps they only go one way. If you can not free up the brush you'll have to replace it.

If the brush spins freely probably just need a new belt they stretch out over time.

How do I change the fan on my model 2HD kirby

How do I change the fan on my model 2HD Kirby
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
1st you need to remove the head with the revolving brushing by dialing off the belt and undo the Kirby lock @ the top o the bell housing. Remove the head and that will expose the fan and the fan housing. The fan housing is held on by a couple of screws and once you removed the screws then you need to separate the fan housing from the motor section, it is held on by a Kirby fan housing sealer that is clear – so try to separate the fan housing with a knife or screwdriver, once the fan housing is off the Kirby fan is screwed on I believe either clockwise or counter clockwise and un-screw the fan and follow the reverse situation on installing the fan but you need to use the clear Kirby Fan Housing Sealer to re-seal the fan housing and let it dry and wipe of the excess clear sealer before putting it back together again. Always remember on the Kirby vacuums – use genuine Kirby parts on the repairs, it does make a difference. Then go back and place the Kirby head back on the vacuum – lock it on place and then re-dial the belt onto the Kirby fan shaft, plug your vacuum in the wall outlet and test run the vacuum.
