The iPod touch for some reoson is not compatible for some reason. I have an iPod touch 2nd gen and it doesn't work. However it does work with other types of iPod.

The issue is that the 4th Generation iPod takes far more energy to run than your 4gb iPod. Updating the firmware has nothing to do with it. It's the amount of energy/voltage that this new 8Gig unit takes to run. Think of it as a 4 cylinder verses an 8 cylinder engine. The 8 takes far more gas to run. Blessings,

It's because it charges via FireWire and your iPod charges via USB. This 12V vs. 5V. I've encountered this twice recently myself. Scosche makes an adapter that's sold through the Apple Store.
Hey I figured it out. When you bought the 4th generation ipod nano it came with it's own dock insert. It fits perfectly and fixes everything, including the remote issues. Now my only problem is I have a black ihome and a white insert :( Good luck!
nano 4th does not support firewire anymore, best option is to bring your AJ300D back to where you bought it. Philips claim that nano 4th is supported is not true.
