SD vs SDHC Card in Aiptek ASDV2.4 Camcorder

My wife was helping me out by purchasing a 4GB memory card for my new handheld. She got the SDHC thinking it was just SD - High Capacity (which technically, is correct). However, my question is -- before I open it up and can't return it, will that work with my camera rather than a regular SD card?

Yes, it will work. I have the same camera Aiptek ISDV2.4 and use a 4GB SDHC card in it. Have since I bought it with no problems at all. You can't go higher than a 4GB according to Aiptek but 4GB SDHC works just great. Gives you a couple hours of video recording space on D1 setting.

Card error

Is this the card you always used, or did you recently buy a new card?
Because you can use MMC cards and SD cards. Most SD cards you now buy, even the 2 GB ones, are SDHC cards and they are not compatible with your camera.
You should try to get an SD card. They used to make SD cards up to 4GB, but as I said, now they already make 2GB SDHC, So look careful when buying a memory card.
If it was the card you always used, try to get all pictures from the card, using an external memory card reader on your computer. Then in the camera do a format, before you continue.
If it does not work, try an other card. SD that is.

Aiptek Sd card compatible Problems

Some Aiptek cameras work with SD and SDHC cards, some work only with SD cards. If you have one of the latter, make sure your card is an SD card, not an SDHC card. The two card types are physically identical but electronically different.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply to this post. But be sure to specify the model of your Aiptek camera, as well as the type and size of your memory card.

My camera gets easily full though i've just taken only one or two pictures. What should i do? Please help me solve this problem. I badly need my camera now as I am documenting for my thesis. Thanks much.

Sounds like you may not have a SD memory card in your camera (or have been using a 4GB SDHC card), and your images are being saved to the camera's very limited "built-in" memory. What size SD memory card are you using. If there is none (or if you're using a 4GB SDHC), recommend purchasing a standard SD card no larger than 2GB files size for your model camera (think of it as the camera's reusable film).
Note that 4GB and higher SDHC cards will not work with your camera as it was manufactured before SDHC format came out (this also could be causing the camera to default to built-in memory). Again, the maximum SD card size that your camera can use is 2GB. These can still be purchased, and are relatively inexpensive on Amazon.

A 4GB memory card will be an SDHC type. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Recently purchased an Aiptek IS-DV. It has

Your problem has a very simple fix. The camera which you have is not compatible with SDHC cards. It will only work with regular SD cards.

Your camera is incompatible with the later SDHC specification at the basic hardware level and so cannot format the card which you have purchased.

Note that SD cards are available up to and including 4GB and SDHC start at 4GB so you're not the only person to have made this mistake. In practice there are very few devices designed to use regular SD cards which will work correctly with 4GB SD; Aiptek only designed and tested the IS-DV up to 1GB SD capacity (see page 48 of the user manual), so this is the effective limit to the largest capacity memory card which you can use, if you try larger capacity cards they will either not work at all or will make the camera operations sluggish and you also risk damaging the card itself so that it will no longer correctly format. Aiptek never released any firmware updates to improve the SD compatibility on your camera.

I'm sorry not to be able to offer any way to use your current SDHC card but at least I may have prevented you making another purchasing mistake. Please return the favour by rating my answer.

We have a brand new camera with a brand new 32 gb memory card and when we try to use the camera we get the message "memory full".

The SDHC (32GB) card is not supported by that model. The IS-DV has 16MB internal memory and supports up to 1 GB SD card.

Return 32GB card ... very expensive...

Hope this helps!

Will not recognize 16 GB SDHC Card - Help Please

I had a literally terrifying experience with Aiptek customer service.

I called up Aiptek to ask if it was possible to get my memory cards working. I have two 4GB SDHC PNY cards, which th ekid at target reccomended after loking at the back of the box.

I was told by aiptek tech support that PNY cards will not work in the A-HD camera.

When I mentioned that the box says it will take cards up to 32GB, and asked him if this was not false advertising. The representative became irate and started insulting me, using valgure language, and calling me a liar.

At this point I had enough of his abuse and yelled at him F.U!

What happened next is Truly Absurd and Outrageous!

The man behind the telephone at Aiptek told me he was going to send 5 guys to my house to assult me and my fammily!
THIS IS NO JOKE!
