Asinger model 5050 will not make stitches, checked all points,

My singer model 5050 will not create any stitches. Have removed bobbin case and cleaned out all debri. Reset the bobbin case, checked tension and rethreaded and still not getting a good stitch. Whhen it does get a stitch, it does a few then skips and not return to making stitches. Have noticed that when pulling up bobbin thread, the first round of top thread does not catch the bobbin when pulling wheel towards me. It takes second try before it catches. Any suggestions on how to remedy this ?

Im supper confused i just got a singer sewing machine model 5830c and im trying to figure out what is wrong. the bobbin wont thread and nothing is trying to catch it what do i do?

If the bobbin on your Singer sewing machine is not threading correctly, there may be a problem with the bobbin case or the bobbin tension. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

Check the bobbin case: Make sure the bobbin case is correctly installed in the machine and seated properly. If it is not, the bobbin may not be able to thread correctly. Refer to the manual or a diagram of your machine to determine the correct position for the bobbin case.

Check the bobbin tension: The bobbin tension should be just right - not too loose or too tight. If the tension is incorrect, the bobbin may not thread correctly. To check the tension, remove the bobbin case and hold it with the opening facing up. Then, gently pull on the thread. It should offer some resistance, but the thread should still smoothly glide through the tension spring. If the tension is not correct, you can adjust it by turning the tension dial on the bobbin case.

Check the machine settings: Make sure the machine is set to the correct stitch type and thread tension. Refer to the manual or a diagram of your machine to determine the correct settings.

Clean and oil the machine: If the machine has not been used in a while or has not been properly maintained, it may need to be cleaned and oiled. Dirt and debris can accumulate in the machine and affect its performance. Use a brush to clean out any visible debris, and oil any points where the manual recommends.

I have a Singer Stylist Model #7258.Serial #H10229C25810334. When I'm sewing, the top stitch is perfect but the bottom stitch comes out like backward C's. How does that even happen!????

Check your stitch sample. Is it actually the top thread showing under the fabric, or is it really the bobbin thread. Generally, thread problems under the fabric are an upper thread problem. Thread issues above the fabric is a bobbin issue.

Try a brand new needle.
Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread.
Remove the bobbin, check that it is wound smoothly, and install and thread the bobbin case making sure the bobbin spins the correct direction.
From that point, there may need to be some tension adjustments required.

Understanding Thread Tension Threads

If the problem continues, you may need to have it serviced. Perhaps there is a burr or snag somewhere that is interfering with the thread in the thread path.

Singer sewing machine bobbin thread knots rather than forming stitches or forms large loose stiches on bottom of fabric

What you have going on is a bobbin problem. The knots are referred to as birds' nests and happen when your bobbin thread gets caught on a piece of the bobbin casing. The large, loose stitches are normally caused by a problem with the bobbin case, a bobbin that is would properly, or when you're getting to the end of the bobbin's thread and the thread is loosely would on the bobbin at that point.

You're best bet is probably to buy a new bobbin casing. They're usually about $25 or so and you should be able to find one on eBay by searching for Singer (your machine name and model) under the Crafts category. The silver plate on top of the area covering where you place your bobbin into has screws you need to carefully remove (careful not to loose them!). If you need to, take pictures with your cellphone or digital camera as you remove the old bobbin casing so you can see how to put the new one in.

This should take care of the problem. If, for some reason it doesn't, you may well have a problem ALSO with your bobbin tension, and that should be looked at by a Singer Technician. You can find one in the yellow pages near you or probably by searching Yahoo Local. Happy Sewing.

How do you change the tension on a bobbin for a singer 5050 We don't have an instructional manual?

Unless you are going to hand wind a heavier thread on the bobbin, you do not need to make any adjustment to the bobbin tension.

There is a screw on the side of the bobbin case and this is where you adjust the tension.

You can download a free manual here - http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html

If your stitching is loopy, it is not the bobbin.

Re-thread the machine with the presser foot up. This will insure proper tension when the top thread and bobbin thread combine to make a stitch.
