When I remove particular colour cartridge, spots on page correspond to spot of toner that is on drum. Same placed spots also seem to correspond to drips of toner left on the "plastic sheet mechanism" that the paper runs over top.
Lousy answers all of them. There can be two things happening. One I have not found a cure for yet. First replace the toner cartridge, even if you just replaced it. This should resolve it. Just because you might have just replaced a toner cartridge does not mean it is not faulty.
The second part to this problem I have seen is when you print a demo page it looks fine but when you print a usage page or configuration there are speckles. This one I am working on. Yours is most likely just a faulty toner cartridge. Seen it many times.

It could be either the paper feed assembly, part # RM1-0012, or the registration assembly, part #RM1-1098. These parts can be bought at TSAworld, phone # 1-800-633-6626

go ahead and replace the toner cartridge because it is probably dumping magenta toner in your machine. the cause of this is most likely a bad drum cleaning blade in the toner. if you do have toner in your machine you can spray windex on a lint free cloth and wipe out the spill. or use a can of air to blow it out but be warned you may have a magenta cloud in the room for several minutes. good luck!

Ehh, after futher reading it seems, as long as the EBT is not physically damadged, it is fine. So it all points back to the fuser. Ebay for $75 genuine HP.
But for others, just to rule out anything simple, disconnect from computer, and reset to factory defaults. Print Demo page. If still looks ugly, nothing to loose, run the service menu cleaning option, basicly heats the fuser very hot and passes a paper very slowly to catch any excess toner. I have never seen this cleaning option help but you never know. And if your print still looks like ****, you can save your beloved slow printing laser jet, replace the fuser.
Awsome instructions...

Clear the printer queue on the computer (double-click the printer icon in the tray or in the Printers and Faxes folder and cancel all documents listed). Then power off the printer and disconnect the power - remove the paper from the paper tray until you have the printer memory cleared as to not waste paper.
