I have an Olympus Evolt E-300 and it has worked beauifully for a long time. However, on a cruise in the south Pacific it suddenly stopped working. It will turn on, and apparently the supersonic sensor cleaner works ok. The LCD works fine (e.g. I can call up menus, etc.) but the camera will not take photos. When the shutter button is pressed, the shutter operates 6 or 8 times in rapid succession, but no image is recorded on the memory card. I've checked the memory card, and battery and they are fine. I tried reinstalling the firmware, and apparently that reinstallation was successful, but the camera's behavior did not change. Any suggestions? Thanks, Prof67
Check out the pins in the base of the card chamber- are any missing or bent? Next check out Mirror action- is it working? Try to get onto the Olympus Tech Support team. If it is broken I think a repair will not be an option- the cost if possible will be well on the way to the next camera This is my camera too - lovely under rated beasts
