It previously played commercially-produced & burnt cd-r music discs & ejected changer wn eject button ws pushed. Now it suddenly stopped responding. Turned it off, tried many times to get it to change discs, play, or eject; nothing worked (tho lights were on in display,& it lit up correct disc #). Held eject button for 5+secs, tried pushing eject button w/machine turned in various positions, includg upside-down. Took cover off and noted 1 disc in player area and 1 disc still in changer. New 9-sec whirring noise occurs wn power-up, so it's trying... This has bn a great machine-hate to give up on it. Thanks for any ideas.
Mine did the same thing. My player was primarily used in the garage and the cold weather may have caused my player to do the same thing. I just fixed my player. I removed the top cover and looked at the CD in the play position. In the upper right corner from the CD, you will see a spindle motor with a belt on it. Gently spin the motor back and forth carefully with your finger. I rotated it a half-spin in either direction, careful not to dislodge the belt. When I turned the player back on, the mechanism operated as it normally would and began playing the disc. I was able to eject and reinsert the magazine without any issues, solving the problem. Hopefully that will work for you.
SOURCE: On my Sony CDP-C910 CD changer I get message
Spin motor or pickup is bad. Replace the unit. Expence to repair for this age machine not practical.
