1 long 2 short is video failure, I'm sorry for the bad news, the video board failure is common with this series.

you can try reseating the ram but its unlikely to solve the problem. the vga will need to be replaced, the price is around 150 or more. www.acerparts.com

  • Ekse Jan 14, 2009

The Vga board may not be replace able on this model. I don't see PCB VIDEO listed, so you may be out of luck, may need to replace the whole motherboard. The price of a replacement motherboard seems to be around 300 euro. A new laptop would be a better investment,

BUT note Do you have warranty? if you have warranty the repair is free. If you don't I might buy a new laptop.

SOURCE: acer aspire 9300 black screen (display adapter)

I have been fixing computers that has long beeps and short ones. It is usually attributed to memory problem connection. Open the memory compartment at the back of the PC then detach the memory card. Clean with cloth softly enough not to destroy the circuit board or a pencil eraser to clean-up dust that caused the connection blockade. Reconnect after cleaning.

Any help for beeping acer laptop when opening..thanks

g'day!

i would like to know how many and the kinds of beeps? there are what they call beep codes which indicates what kind of problem the your laptop is experiencing: here are the common ones:

0 beep = no power, loose card, short
1 short beep = normal,POST (Power On Self Test), your computer is ok
2 short beeps = POST error, review screen for error code.
continuous beeps = no power, loose card, short
repeating short beeps = no power, loose card, short
1 long, 1 short beeps = motherboard issue
1 long, 2 short beeps = video issue
1 long, 3 short beeps = video display circuitry
three long beeps = keyboard/keyboard card error
one beep, blank, incorrect display = video display circuitry

aside from the 1 short beeps, you need to take your laptop to a technician to have it looked at.

cheers mate!

have you tried to isolate what the cause of the problem? first check the video card if is properly inserted into the slot, and check the memory, and cable from CPU to monitor if it is connected properly. then boot your system. And try to observe this beep error code this might help you locate where the problem is.
