While you have the back cover off, test the panel and power supply board by disconnecting the cable from main board. If unit's backlight comes on the main board needs replacing. If the backlight does not, the power board needs replacing.
There are a few components that could be responsible for the lack of standby power on the RCA power board:
Fuse: Check to see if the fuse on the power board is intact. If it's blown, then that could be the reason for the lack of standby power.
Capacitors: Check the capacitors on the power board for signs of bulging or leaking. If any of the capacitors are faulty, then they may need to be replaced.
Diodes: Check the diodes on the power board to ensure that they are not shorted or open. If any of the diodes are faulty, then they may need to be replaced.
Voltage regulator: Check the voltage regulator on the power board to ensure that it is providing the correct output voltage. If the voltage regulator is faulty, then it may need to be replaced.
If all of these components check out, then it's possible that the power board itself is faulty and needs to be replaced.
You need to find out which board the led driver resides on. The main board sends a signal to the power supply board to turn on the LED's Look on the power supply board for swollen capacitors. Barry,
if you include the make & model we may be able to help locate a board. Even better if you include board ID info including revision number. Suggestions include eBay or any of the reliable net based component vendors.
The power supply board could very well be defective. I would also check the Zsus board and the Xsus boards. If either of these boards fail it could also cause the power supply board to fail.
You can unplug the connectors to the zsus board at the power supply and try to turn the set on. If it does turn on, the power supply board is ok. If not, the power supply is bad. If the power supply board is ok, undo the plug connectors that power the Xsus board and hook up the plug connectors to the Zsus board. Turn the set an and see if it stays on or shuts down. Part numbers should be on the boards. Zenith is really LG Corp. Their customer support number is 1800-243-0000.
Hope this helps,
Steve
You will need a volt meter to test the board for power. First remove the cover at the cord terminal and verify 220 volts to the dryer as well as 120 volts from each hot leg to neutral. If power is OK there, open the console to access the control board you replaced. The door must be closed. With the volt meter check for power at terminals BB1 position #1 and BB2 position #3.BB1 is L1 power in. BB2 is neutral power in. If no power is present check the door switch. The L1 power comes from the terminal block to the door switch before it goes to the board. If power is present at the board and nothing works you have a bad board.
The exact same thing happened to my D815EAA2. In my case an overheating power supply destroyed the board. Do the following:
1. Check the power supply you replaced it with works on another system. 2. If it still doesn't work with your board, the board will need to be replaced.
TV needs power supply board replacement that is available with Shop Jimmy, click link to have price info. If you are handy with electronics stuff repair then it would not be difficult to replace this board. Unplug connectors of old board, remove screws and take out old power supply board. Put things in reverse order and job is done. Thanks.
Check all electrical connections. If standby light is off when plugged in, probably needs Power Supply board replaced. If standby light is on (Orange/Amber color) may need Power Supply board and or Main Board. If set was shutting down on it's own leading up to it not powering on at all, may need Main Board, and possibly Power Board as well. If standby light has changed from Orange/Amber color to Green, the set IS powered on, and you have an issue other than power.
