Video cards are designed to run on a number of different busses - agp, pci, PCIe, usb, firewire, etc.. The available busses on your computer will determine which cards are compatable with your computer. Other considerations are power and ram requirements. How far any of these can be upgraded will determine the limit of a cards compatablilitiy.

Good news!! PCI video cards are relatively inexpensive as long as you are doing tasks that aren't too processor intensive. I won't recommend any one site specifically- where you spend your $$ is up to you- but surf around a little to make sure you get a fair price for the one you do buy. Amazon.com is a good place to start as well as better known places like newegg, tigerdirect, etc.
Just make sure the card you get is PCI- NOT an AGP or PCIx. AGP slots are the older of the 3 and PCIx (PCI Express) is for the newer generation of graphics cards, especially those needed for high end gaming graphics. Let me know if you need any further clarification before spending if you're not sure.

If you need just an basic card for video then any card with over 64Mb will do.
if you need something for gaming or high graphics then go with something over 128-256MB.
Of course if you are going with something that demands more video memory...once you get the card of your choice installed then disable the onboard video to give memory back to the computer.
Go into BIOS (Setup menu from bootup) and disable onboard video.
I would also add more memory to the computer...max it out if you can ...especially if you will be doing games.

Hi,
This particular model of the system is basic home use system not built for games.
You can put in either a PCI graphics card or an AGP 4x graphics card that should not take more than 1.5v of power.
The max you can put is 128 MB , you can try the 256 MB, but i would suggest against it .

Well virtually ANY PCI video card from that era will work... NVIDIA have great cards say in the old FX series.

The graphics chip in this pc is part of the chipset - if it is dying then the entire chipset is dying. Since replacing the motherboard equals to replacing the core of the pc (and everything attached to it must go also) then it will be cheaper just to get a new pc.
