LG Split system (ceiling cassette)

My unit has a wired remote (which works) and a wireless remote (which doesn't. The LCD screen in the wireless remote shows all the expected symbols and reacts to buttons being pressed. The main unit in the ceiling simply gives five beeps (its always five) and ignores the wireless remote.

The unit is brand new and the wireless remote has never worked. LG have not so far been very helpful and my installer ditto.

The remote is transmitting, the beeps come from the main unit in the ceiling, and I have tried fresh batteries and the reset button. As they are clearly communicating something I wondered if anyone knew what five beeps meant. From a choice of taking back the remote or the main unit I know what one I prefer to carry.

I will try the power reset you suggest but as we are fairly remote our power tends to be intermittent in the early hours of the morning most nights, so I do not expect much.

Check your remote control by using your camera or cellphone camera as your eyes. Point the remote control to the camera and "on" the remote control. If no lights emits in the remote control means that your remote control is defective If lights emits then the remote control is ok. Try also to locate the reset or rst button on the remote control if available and reset it, then try. If it wont work may be the receiver board in the unit is defective.

Check also if no error code present in the unit, if error code is present try to reset the unit by disconnecting the power supply for 10sec. and test.

I want to know that how mini split system automatic work? there is any thermostate or any other device?

Generally, they are operated by a remote control (similar to a television), although some units do have a wired wall control option as well. The indoor and outdoor unit has sensors that measure temperature (to control the operation of the mini-split) and (once the remote is set) the sensors control the system until it reaches the set point set on the remote.

Sound like a defective receiver board. Have this checked. Also check to see that your remote transmits. Hold the top part of the remote to your phone or digital camera lens. press a button and a light should appear on the screen of your phone or digital camera screen.

LG remote problem

Hi,

Most probably if the remote works on the other units then the receiver on your problem unit is busted. You have to call an authorized service repair shopr to replace the board.

I hope it helps.

A/c remote working but system wont respond

Heya Allhart?

How did you check the remote? Did you check the remote via viewing it on a LCD screen? If the remote is working than you need a new receiver PCB for your air con and would contact Sanyo to see if it is under warranty or for them to get someone out to veiw.

Hope this helps

LG Spilt A/C

medev,

there is a lot of reason why your LG split unit would not work by remote control.
first likely trouble is the remote itself. it could have drop from a height and broke the remote, or corrosion has set inside the remote if you left an old battery for a long time and it could have broken it.

secondly which is not more likely to happen is the remote receiver in your unit got broke that is why it can not communicate with your remote controller. it could happen if someone has serviced your evaporator and could have disconnected wires to the receiver , or wires were just left not connected.

you can test the remote if you have an identical unit which is working with a working remote. use the working remote to your unit then you can decide.
i hope i was able to help.
