How do I connect a external monitor to my toshiba P55T-B5262 laptop

Ok I looked at the Specs on the laptop --- you have a HDMI port --- Same thing found on almost all tv's now days
-you need a HDMI to VGA or an HDMI to DVI converter --- very inexpensive purchase

Options #1
If the monitor you are trying to has this port:

-then you need a HDMI to VGA adapter

Using with a laptop

Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI.

If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.

If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.

You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.

How to turn on

What?............Oh, okay.............I was going to watch this Disney movie though..........

JUST KIDDING!

http://www.asus.com/ph/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_VivoBook_X202E/

1) Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, attach a VGA monitor to the VGA port, on the laptop.
(Right side, all the way to the back)

Or you can use the HDMI port, and use an HDTV.
The HDMI port is on the Left side.

Turn the monitor/TV on.
Turn the laptop on.
Does a display show on the external monitor/TV?
No?

Hold the Fn key down, and tap once on the F8 key.
The F8 key is the Display Toggle-Over key.
Go to what you are using as an external monitor. VGA monitor, or HDTV. Hold the Fn key down, and tap the F8 key until you get what you want.

Have a display on the external Monitor/TV?
Problem is NOT the graphics chipset.
Problem is the Video Cable, or LCD/Touch screen.

Post back in a Comment, as to the results of the external monitor test.

Unlock password

How about looking at a screen?

Use an external monitor

Briefly;

Your laptop has an external display device port. (Connector)
I do not know what it is, because you didn't state the laptop manufacturer name, and model number; Elizabeth

It may be a VGA port, or HDMI port, or Mini-HDMI port; or DVI port

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_Connector

(Scroll down for VGA Cable example)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

(You can click on any photo, and it will enlarge)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HDMI_Connector.jpg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect the external display device to the laptop.
(VGA = Monitor. DVI = Monitor. HDMI, and Mini-HDMI usually = HDTV. They all compromise an external display device)

Turn the monitor/HDTV on.
Turn the laptop on.
By factory default settings, the display should show on the external display device.
IF not;

There are at least 3 display options. For this example I'm going to use a VGA monitor.
(For a VGA monitor you can use a CRT type of monitor. Looks like a small TV. Or you can use a flat LCD screen monitor, if it has a VGA Cable attached)

The basic 3 display options using a VGA monitor are;
1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

Hold the Fn key down, and at the SAME time tap once on the Display Toggle-Over key.

Which key is that? Dunno. Laptop manufacturer name, and ......................

It will be one of the F keys at the top. F1 through F12.
The Function key will have a monitor icon on it, and usually an arrow on one side........Or perhaps two monitor icons sitting side by side.
(Empty rectangle is a monitor icon)

Still no display on external display device?
Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the Display Toggle-Over key

[If memory serves for Display Toggle-Over key;
HP = F4
Acer = F5
Toshiba = F5
IBM/Lenovo = F8

Don't write that in stone, however.......]

Once you post the manufacturer name, and model number; then I can guide you step by step.

How to connect laptop to vga projector?

you need a cable. it may be the one that usually connects a computer to a monitor = depending what the input is on the projector but it sounds like an ordinary monitor cable as projector is VGA ( the other type has a digital input at one end ;but Im pretty sure thats not it.) If you have another computer set up just borrow the monitor cable and try it. There's already an input for one end in your laptop if its ok buy an extra cable

How do I hook a an external monitor up to a hp dv6 1355 with a cracked screen?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4043282&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Product information > Product specifications > Product specifications;

External Ports:
1 VGA (15-pin)

Manuals > Notebook Tour - Windows 7;

Left-side Components - External Monitor Port
Left/Rear side of laptop,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

You can use a CRT type of monitor (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA cable.

(You can also use an HDTV if it has an HDMI port, and you have an HDMI cable. The HDMI port is on the Left side of the laptop, too.

{Don't buy an HDMI cable that is expensive. Just a waste of money.
Those gold plated parts are just a little bit better, than an HDMI cable that doesn't have it. $20 for an HDMI cable is PLENTY. (12 Feet) I use one's that cost less )

A) Laptop OFF, monitor (External display device) OFF.
Connect the VGA monitor to the VGA port, on the laptop.

Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the laptop on.

There ARE at least 3 display options available;

1) Internal monitor ONLY
2) Internal monitor AND external display device (VGA monitor in this example)
3) External display device ONLY

Press, and hold the Fn key down, tap once on the F4 key.
(The F4 key is the Display Toggle-Over key)

Wait a few seconds.
Still no?
Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F4 key.

What do I need and how do I connect my Toshiba L305 model PSLB8 050302f to my hdtv to view online tv?

I dont believe that laptop has an HDMI port on it. If you have an LCD TV then your TV may have a VGA or DVI input on it. You can connect your laptop to the TV by using a VGA to VGA or VGA to DVI cable. If you your TV doesn't have one of these input ports, then you're not going to get your laptop connected to your TV.

I have a Samsung Series 6-650 LCD TV (Model # LN46A650A1F). I am trying to connect my Laptop to use the TV as a monitor and have done everything to make it work, using a VGA/HDMI cable, but the TV refuses...

Why do you use VGA-HDMI cable? This TV works fine with VGA cable - it has VGA plug.
Or if your notebook has DVI output, then you can use DVI/HDMI cable and connect it to the TV to plug named DVI/HDMI (only one HDMI input is marked as DVI on TV).
I suppose that over HDMI the TV supports only some standard resolutions, but over VGA it supports almost every resolution laptops use. You can find supported resolutions for each input in the TV manual. Try setting the same resolution on the laptop.

I want to connect my Thinkpad T30 laptop to HDTV

Depends on what connections are on your laptop and tv check them both. If you have a HDMI port on both you can use that. If not most recent TV's have a VGA port which you can use using a standard vga cable if not they will have a DVI or S-Video port and you will need one of those cables which are all availble from any computer shop. But check which one you need first
