My Tecumseh Snow King 8HP snowblower won't start. I need to know how to start it with an electrical cord.

If you are having problems with a NIlfisk King cord reel it will either be that the cord is simply dislodged or the retract could be faulty. I have made a video showing how to pull it apart which could be used as a reference to diagnose the issue.

sounds like you broke a connection on one or both wires check for breaks in the cord

Please check manually the motor and see if it moves freely. Now make sure that the power plug and the connections to the switch are not tampered , check the continuity of the plug to the switch and to the motors.
If you notice any dirt or insects make sure that this has not clogged on the motor. If so clean using a degreasing spray- WD40- would be recommended.
If the motor is tight , lightly oil or degrease using the spray while manually rotating.
Once this is done connect the power while taking all precaution. Use the meter to check the flow of the circuit to the switch and to the motor. If there is a trip switch see that it is reset.
If there is power to the motor and still it does not work the brushes might be dirty and might need a cleaning/ reset.

1. Make sure that both safety switches are engaged (front and bag area).

2. The power cord can break internally where you won't see it. Look for damage or twists in the cord. With the vacuum turned on wiggle these areas between your hands and see if it tries to run. If so replace the cord. If not the he motor may need to be serviced

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. I have been working on small engines for over 40 years and this sounds like possibly a fuel starvation problem. Since you did not include an engine model or engine number & size, ths response is quite generic. Remove the float bowl and clean the bowl nut holes. Also with the bowl removed the fuel flow should fill a spary paint can lid 2/3 rds full in about 8 seconds. If you do not have this king of fuel flow then the problems can be:
1. A clogged fuel filter (If installed)
2. A glass fuel bowl on the bottom of the fuel tank or in line with the main fuel supply that is full of sediment.
3. An obstruction in the fuel tank outlet port (rust / debris, grass et al)

While the feul bowl is off remove the main fuel supply hose from the carb and check fuel flow. After you are sure you have a good fuel supply re-install the main fuel hose to the carb AFTER shooting carb cleaner into the fuel manifold connection. Also use carb cleaner and spray into the threaded area where the bowl nut screws into the bast of the carb. This is where the main fuel jet is located. You can use a small nail or tooth pick to clear any obstructions in the jet orifice above the threads of the bowl nut. Also spray carb cleaner into the brass tube in the bottom of throat of the carb (goes to jet orifice)

If you are having ignition failure that is heat or vibration related you will have to find out where the ignition kill wire is chaffing on the engine. If can be anywhere from the throttle control to under the flywheel. You just have to follow the wire from the kill switch point all the way to the ignition coil searching for a bare spot. An tidy electrical tape repair of a chaffed wire is ok. On some snow blowers I have had to cut the wire.. install a piece of shrink tubing, solder the 2 wires together and then skrink the tubing over the repair due to water intrusion from snow.

Sometimes... it is possible for a spark plug to fail as it gets hot. A new plug sould solve this problem. Also check where the spark plug wire passes through the air shroud for any signs of insulation break down.

I would take it to a qualified repair shop for this type if repair. Without knowing the specifics, most vacuums have a strain relief that needs to be squeezed and pryed out. Once this is out the cord can be replaced, but will need to have the correct type of electrical connectors and tools to make the connection. Most cords cost about $15 - $20

Electrical current passes through the electric cord and plug - it will get warm, that's normal. If the problem is worse where you smell an electrical burning smell, only an authorized dealer can fit a new power cord to your vacuum cleaner. Call the Dyson helpline, they will let you know who the closest repair dealer in your area is.

unless you are able to turn the blade backward and pull on the cord at the same time no luck. it may be easier to just cut the cord and install a new one. solution one is best and both require taking the machine apart. start there and hope it works out for you.

You did not say which model you have, but if upright, most cords went in on the upper part of the handle and you need to take it apart to do that.
