SOURCE: Hi i have a dell poweredge 2850. Orange LED blinking

It sounds like a hard disk has failed or fallen out of sync.
This can be a serious problem if not addressed ASAP.

Call Dell, they have lifetime phone support for their servers.

Write down the Express Service Code and Service Tag number that is on the server chassis before you call.
This is the last number I used for server support: (800) 945-3355
If it doesn't work you should be able to find a valid number at support.dell.com

I hope this helps.

Turn off machine un plug all power cables.
To access the jumpers, remove the cooling shroud by lifting the release latch and sliding the shroud towards the front of the system
Lift up the memory module airflow shroud for easy access to the jumpers
This will rest the password and then you will be able to rest the server.
Hope this help you.

SOURCE: how to use the smart start cd to install dell

Smart Start is an HP utility. Dell has a similar one called Systems Build and Update Utility (SBUU) or Systems Management Tools and Documentation (SMTD - much larger download and includes SBUU).

You should use the DVD version if possible, and if you are installing 2003, it should have SP2. If it doesn't, then you can use nLiteOS.com to integrate the Service Pack into your installation media.

SOURCE: I have a PowerEdge 2950

Hi,

According to u I understand that the hard disk of your Power edge is faulty & need to recover the data.

You don't have say the exact problem of your hard drive. If your hard drive detect in your system Bios but you can't access Data or OS from safe mode also then try to format only the OS drive or repair the drive with your server OS CD. If you get perform it well then you can recover your data by transferring data to another external drive.

If The Hard drive doesn't detect then first try to change the cables (Data & Power)of the Hard drive. If detect it then try to access it or perform the previous job.

For detection of the Hard drive you can try to attach this drive to another system in slave or as secondary drive. If detect then you can recover data.

If your hard drive get crashed then use data recovery CD to recover data. Insert disk, install software, and recover the data by follow the option of the software.

This software is available in market.

Have another process to recover data from a crashed Hard drive. It is freezing but try it carefully. Place the hard drive into a baggy, seal it tightly and put it in the freezer overnight. The next day remove it from the baggy and put it in the external drive case.

Transfer the data from the drive before it warms too much and crashes again.

Dell poweredge 2950 11910 intrusion error

Hello here is the DELL support homepage:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/poweredge-2950?dgc=IR&cid=259637&lid=4661885
The chassis intrusion was made to prevent unautorized access when the chassis is opened.
A small contact in the cabinet trigger the bios, so the operating system is not starting.
Next the system must be activated again by the system admin.
This can easy be deactivated, by entering the bios, and disable the function.
And the wire can be removed from the mainboard, so it don`t happens again.
Hope this will help you

Giving and indicates blue light? what it means

radical93

Is the light solid or is blinking. If the light is the system status light by the network jacks, then solid blue system light is turned on no errors in the BMC. If the indicator is blinking blue this mean the system is turned on and is in system ID state.
