I had (have!) the same problem with blocked hoses. The jet nozzle does just prize off, and normally there is enough spare on the hoses to pull then out a little. The nozzle is attached to a small filter, you can separate them easily by pulling them apart. I suggest you can soak them overnight in detergent and blow through them in the morning, rather than sticking a needle in them which can lead to an off line dispersed jet if your not careful. You will also note that there is a screwdriver slot on the side of the nozzle. This is to adjust the jets vertically onto your screen.

Well, hope that helps, I need to replace the hoses - don't suppose you have any advice?

You will probably find there is one or two plastic clips on the washer jet. You can usually get at these from the under side of the bonnet. Be carefull not to force them though because they do get brittle over time. If you do break them you can buy new ones from Alfa or a good motor parts store will probably have universal ones at a fraction of the dealer cost.

Blocked pump for window wash , no water coming through onto windscreen.can i clear this myself? or does it need to go to garage?.

If the pump runs then the nozzles are blocked. Use a pin or needle to clear the blockage from the nozzle.(Stick it in the little hole pointed at the windscreen.) Be careful not to break the pin off in the nozzle.
See if you are able to pull the pipes off from the underside of the nozzles. Clear the nozzle using the pin. Then point the pipe into the underside of the nozzle and activate the washer in order to rinse the nozzle.

My 156 sportswagon is burning fuel badly i put 2 gallons in and only got 31 miles for this i can hear an air leak coming from top of engine would this be a likley cause for such poor fuel consumption it's...

an air leak would weaken the mix of fuel to air so giving you better fuel efficiency but a poor power output.
was my last answer not to your liking, re **** fuel consumption on all fiat/alpha cars.but it is true, ask any owner........14.7 average mpg.......£205 road tax.....(tax it for a year and quadruple its value...)

Revs stuck 2000 , once passed that drives fine otherwise kangaroo jumps. its a alfa romeo 156 twin

Could be your throttle body. Check for any parts that may restrict your throttle body causing it to stick when giving it gas or letting off. Check that there is nothing blocking your throttle cable by tracing it by hand and inspecting around it.

Windscreen wipers only work on fast not onnormal or int

Hi most likely the switch that operates the wipers is broke and not the wipers motor.

Get it tested before replacing it, but most often alfa's have so many electrical problems it's difficult to say.

Alfa romeo 156

There are 3 I think . The main one is behind the panel between the steering column and the drivers door. There should be a screw knob thing on the the upper side of the cubby hole. Undo that and the panel should fall down. The drivers door needs to be open though.
There are some main fuses in the little box on top of the battery and there are some more relays inside the glove compartment. You have to prize off a panel on the upper part of the glove box first.

How to clean the windscreen washer jets.

The best thing to do with this problem is to replace the jets its very easy and they only cost about £3 a pair. Just pop out the jets with a small driver pull the jet from the pipe and replace with new jets.
