Hello Danyell,
According to the model number you provided you have a 42" Insignia plasma TV. The problem you reported with having just a blank black screen on the lower half is due to a bad lower buffer board or also called a lower scan board. The part number is LJ92-01739C and if you Google this part number you can find these online and also find some sites that may show a short video on how to replace it. Price of this board looks to be about $35. Also of note is you will find that this part number is a Samsung part number which means your Insignia TV has a Samsung plasma panel in it so the associated circuit boards will also be Samsung parts.
This is a sign of your LCD panel beginning to die. Sometime soon those lines won't fade away and will become permanent parts of your TV screen.
Considering the fact that your TV is approx 3-4 years old, this is normally the expected lifespan of a TV. Once the TV becomes unwatchable, your best bet would be to begin shopping for a new one.
that is a factory defect you call the dealer for the warranty.the defective part of your tv is the inverter board.this board supplies high voltage supply to the backlight cold cathode flourescent lamp. This lamp is the one illuminating the screen of the tv..the lamp is installed at the top and bottom of the screen thats why the center of the tv is dark because the lamp does not lit well..tnx
if you can't expand your screen size from the pulldown menu or vertically or horizontally center the picture one or two of the centering coils could be partially burned out. the monitor uses electromagnets around the crt neck to center the picture. varying the center controls apply or take away voltage from the coils to center the image. may be time for a new monitor
Sony wega blue dot or star pattern on screen http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=206&mdl=KDF42WE655 Models: KDF-42WE655, KDF-50WE655, KDF-55WF655, KDF-60WF655, KDF-55XS955, KDF-60XS955, KF-42WE620, and KF-50WE620
If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it. Good Luck.
It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
