I received the Invicta 1613 I ordered in the mail today but it is not working. Before I send it back how do I determine if it is a quartz or automatic watch? If it requires a new battery I will be returning.

The Tag Heur repair center says an automatic watch must go through an "initiation" process. They recommend winding manually 40 revolution of the crown clockwise. You must wear an automatic watch at least eight hours per day. Repat the initiation if the watch is not worn for 20 hours or so.

Sorry for your Rolex....
In any case you will not be able to to repair watch yourself as it takes skilled man and special tools to do the job.
It is NOT common that the winding rotor is making a noticeable noise, unless you bought second hand watch.
1st cause can be that the rotor fixing screw is loosened and the rotor is touching caseback whilst in move. Then you are the lucky one as the only thing to do is to tighten it properly.
2nd cause can be that the ball bearing is too worn, bridge screwws are loose, rotor axis worn and so on and so on. In this case you may need some part replacement and much more complicated work must be done. As the outcome it will take more time to repair and you will pay more money.

You can wind this watch until it is snug. If it does not continue to run during normal wear then you should have the watch looked at. The swing weight or main spring maybe malfunctioning. If you can return it under warranty that would be best.

Set it only at night but not between 8 and 2. Use the johnson rod that came with it.

there manual is to general and not watch specific like it should. I would want just a "Chevy" manual for Corvette.
