SOURCE: New Rechargable Batteries Die after A Couple of Pictures

This model is renowned for poor battery life. Some people say using the CRV3 battery lasts a lot longer but my advice is to buy NimH batteries with at least 2600mah. Some Nimh are only 700mah and obviously will last less than a third the time of a 2600. Keeping the use of the LCD to a minimum will increase battery life and using the flash puts a tremendous drain on the batteries so if you can do without the flash switch it off. Combine these tips with a set of 2600mah batteries and I'll guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised. As a sideline I always have a good laugh when I see an Olympics opening at night or a firework display and all you can see is thousands of flashes going off which the majority only reach about 12 feet maximum and the parade being shot is some 300 feet away. SOURCE: I have Kodak Easy Share CX7430. I have put in new

Enilra, sounds to me like you might have the button that takes the photo stuck in the down position. Without turning on the power, put you finger on the button and press down on it while you move wiggle your finger around. Get a good look at the button and see if You Can See If The Button is returning to the UP Position. Withour seeing your camera in person this would be my guess.

SOURCE: put brand new batteries in camera took three pic then they die

Hi, you will only solve this by buying the official KODAK battery (KLIC-8000) - NZD52.00 retail here in New Zealand. Even the generic CR3V rechargeable batteries dont work, so dont waste your $$ on them.
Even now, with the 'official' battery, when taking flash photos or zooming a lot, I find that it is only taking around 150 - 200 shots, when Kodak boast over 400.
But I must say the capabilities of the camera (esp the quality video) outstrip any annoyance battery wise.
Hope this helps, regards Wayne

Easyshare will not charge battery

It's not supposed to. The CX7430 is a camera, not a battery charger. If you want to use rechargeable batteries with it, you must charge them outside the camera, or use the dock.

Battery won't hold a charge in camera, but batteries are new

Hello Sonja, Try a firmware update for the CX7430 available at Kodak website listed under SUPPORT, be sure to get the firmware download for your model camera ONLY !!!!! If this does not help, some of these batteries that come from China are very low quality and have had them discharge sitting on the shelf !!!! Try Duracell or Other name brand battery, watch out for some sold on E-Bay as many are very low quality.

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery for longer than 10 sec and turn on

Can kodak CX7430 be charged with USB

A USB connection will not provide sufficient power to your camera and it could damage the internal board. You could opt for purchasing a AAA battery charger or buy a charger/ac adapter from eBay as they go around 10$. The model you're looking for is kws0325.

Good luck.

Kodak CX7430 can only take 10 pictures with a new battery

Chances are that the problem is corroded battery contacts inside the camera. Remove the batteries and clean the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue that's in the camera from the cleaning, then reinstall your batteries. Hopefully this will cure the problem and get the camera back up and working the way it should.

If that doesn't do the trick, you might want to try your luck with the Kodak Troubleshooting guide at:

Kodak CX7430 can only take 10 pictures with a new battery

Always use the best batteries you can buy. Either rechargeable or Alkaline. Do not use the cheapest, just because they cost less.
There can also be problems with the camera. This camera, I believe is a 4mpxl digital camera. It has a few years on it (about 2004), and in those years some of the digital cameras did need a lot of power to operate correctly.
My guess is that you are using cheap batteries, not the best you can buy.
