Tried taking off the bottom plate, removed all five screws, plate would not come off. Have a spool off thread tight around the right hand side of roller.

Is it a cross head screw? Try a small flat head screwdriver across part of the cross - see if you can very slightly tighten it!! Sounds daft but it often helps release the screw so that you can unscrew it.
You can get a wide variety of little screwdriver heads - get a little set of them - find the best bit - tighten ever so slightly and then try to unscrew.
If you have a car garage (service station) nearby, you could try popping over and pleading for a tiny bit of help - garage guys never like to be beaten by one little screw - they'll get it out. A little tip for their trouble is always appreciated.
If all else fails - put the other screws back in and take it to be serviced - better that a dea cleaner.
Good luck.

Tried that. Got a good portionof the thread off. Could not get to the tight area of the roller to cut it away. Really need to get to the roller under the plate.
try posting a pic.. ill go to wlmart to see if i can see it better..i have to go there today..i had them for years and gave them away because i had to clean them almost every time i used them..
well, looked at the product at walmart..the roller seemed easy to get to..i could see where the five screws where..oh..good luck..wish i could tinker with it myself..
I discovered that there are two more screws under the small rollers in the front. Remove the rollers and ten the screws are visible. Its fixed now.
