SOURCE: my whirpool 6th sense american fridge freezer has

Be very careful, when the ice maker malfunctions, many things can be the culprit. The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. Mine recently caught on fire at this device that is located near the compressor. If you would like to be a part of the petition for a recall on this appliance contact me at [email protected]

SOURCE: Freezer is cold, fridge is warm; replaced main board already

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

SOURCE: our freezer keeps freezing up

Yes , it seems that the thermostat is not working, please check the lines from the thermostat to the control board as frost in due course can effect the connections.
Also make sure that the Auto defrost section is also working with the timer working to defrost in set time- check the heaters and timer.

SOURCE: GE Profile SxS Fridge Mod# PSC23MGPB

first thing to check would be to see if the unit is not going into the defrost cycle if you remove the rear panel on the inside of the freezer and check to see if you have an ice build up around the condensor area. while you also have this panel removed you can also check to assure that the fan located in this same area is working properly. Here is also a link on why this happens click here http://www.applianceoutletservice.com/appliance-care-tips/refrigerator-tips/refrigerator-defrost-system-information.htm if you do have ice build up you should take a hair dryer to defrost the ice that is built up around the condensor. Also if you do have this ice build up in order to find out which piece is causing your defrost malfunction you can performin with a multimeter continuity tests on the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater as well here is also a video on how to test the defrost timer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPpLl2d0094 basicly if you pull off that rear panel and the fan is not working you would just replace the fan . Remove the rear panel first and message me back if you have an ice build up and we can solve your refrigerators warming up situation also if you have any further questions message me back with these as well note some models do not have a defrost timer instead they have a pcb board in which it controls the defrost system differently then the timer if you have the pcb instead of the timer and you feel that it is not either the thermostat or the heater message me back this information as well 87% of the time that this happens it is due to the defrost thermostat they are a very cheaply made piece and do short quite easily. Also please remember when our chat has FULLY CONCLUDED to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future Thanks for using Fixya

Why does it keep beeping even though the doors are closed?

  1. Check to see if the fridge and the freezer are overfilled Over-stuffing in the freezer or the fridge or both of these compartments will prevent the doors from closing properly and which can cause the fridge's to set off the beeping alarm.
  2. Check the fridge door seals: Broken or damaged door seals may stop the fridge from closing all the way. This can also happen if the seals are dirty. Wipe clean the door seals with a soft cloth and warm and use soapy water and close the fridge doors. If the door still appears ajar then you have to replace the door seals. It is also quite possible that the inbuilt door-alarm which sets off if the fridge door is ajar for more than a few minutes has gone bad . This would need to be looked at by a qualified repair person . Until, you can call a repair person transfer all the food items to another cool place.
  3. Check the fridge balance: To work correctly the fridge must be placed on a levelled surface. Even a slight tilt in the fridge structure can set off the beeping alarm. Check to see if the fridge is balanced evenly.
  4. Check to see if the fridge exterior is warmer than usual: Check if there is adequate distance between the fridge and walls to allow for proper ventilation. If you have already ensured this and the fridge exterior still appears warmer than usual, have an appliance engineer to take look at the problem. If the beeping continues, switch-off the fridge.
  5. Check the freezer: If your fridge does not have an auto-defrost function then excessive ice-build up in the freezer can cause the beeping alarm to go off . If you see a lot of ice build-up in the icebox or freezer, switch off the fridge and let the ice thaw. Once the fridge is thawed, the beeping should stop.
  6. Have a repair person check the circuit board: It is possible that there is an issue with the appliance's circuit board. If so it will most likely need replacement.

Hi Lollipop, partially working fridge? A fridge either works or not, cold air is made in freezer then distributed to fridge via a vent. In your case WBM Series fridge, top mount freezer blows air down a vent (back centre of chiller compartment). A common fault with the WBM Series is both the PCB and Interface Panel (PCB beside compressor back of fridge, Interface is display panel front of fridge).
So if freezer is cold and fridge not, try a fan motor. If compressor doesn't work either comp is faulty or PCB has blown(has a burning smell).. Hope this helps you and maybe many other ppl.

Fridge/freezer beeping

There is a lever switch usually above the door (when door is in open position) on the fridge cabinet. Not on the actual door. The beeping should stop if this lever is pressed. If the door is positioned correctly it would depress this lever when closed. It may be that the door adjustment is slightly out. If the beeping does not stop when depressed, then your printed circuit board (located usually above the door) is faulty and needs to be replaced.
