Hi
Having looked at the full manual - downloaded from here and savable: http://tda.panasonic-europe-service.com/docs/2z54662404z3z38916z656ez706466z22zdf06e277f71e6367f9e09db70241478cb0ad23ae/tsn3/data/ALL/HXWA30EG/OI/902781/vqt4x32.pdf
I think you will find that you cannot actually change from 4:3 to 16:9 aspect ratio for a particular pixel sized picture. When you set the pixels for the picture you want, the aspect ratio is set automatically.
For example: 16Megapixels 4608x3456 4:3
12Megapixels 4608x2592 16:9 See page 96 of the manual mentioned above for a full table of Megapixels, size, ratio etc
Therefore changing the picture size from the simple menu changes the aspect ratio but you do not have control of the aspect ratio for each size, in other words you cannot take a 16Megapixel picture at 16:9, it has to be 4:3.
Hope this has been helpful
Cheers
Hi,
if you have a photo in jpeg format then it is possible to save it in jpeg format too but changing the parameter "JPEG quality factor" from 100% to 80% for example. The pixels of photo will be the same but the size smaller.
I usually use Microsoft Photo Editor application on my Windows PC:
1- open file
2- save as ...
3- choose jpeg format
4- press button "more"
5- change jpeg quality factor %
6- press save
if you increase image size, it gets pixelated. there is no way to make it bigger, but not pixelated. except taking a similar photo with a better camera.
you need a picture editor to re-size the picture before uploading ..here is one I use and is free and pretty good.. http://www.mediafire.com/?mzzjojmljjz just download ..and run it to install ..and after that click the executable ...choose not to update and select editor..In the editor left part you have to select the folder containing the picture..and select the picture itself ..after that just use the home panel ..and the re-size function .. when you are done ..just look at the picture size written under it ..and if you are satisfied..just save the picture and select the best quality ..and a location to save it ..or it will replace the original and put it in a folder named originals. good luck and please rate my answer cause it helps my activity on the site..Thank you for using Fixya !
Do not confuse image size with file size. Your camera is taking pictures with 12 million picture elements (pixels). When that image is stored on the memory card, the image file takes up about 4 million bytes, but still has 12 million pixels.
If I were you, I would take pictures using the highest quality possible because, you never know when you'll want to enlarge a special picture. You can lower the size of the picture right there in your e-mail program. For details on whatever program you use, just go to the help section at the top of your screen when the program is open.
wen eva u want to change the size of the picture...try reducing the pixels of the picture or the resolution....eg.in photoshop..after opening the picture in it go to Image on top bar and then go to image size and u can reduce the pixels ....mostly pics of 3.2 mb will have morethasn 1000 * 1000 pixels try reducin it to 480 x 820
This may not be the solution; however, please obtain a larger capacity memory card.
A 2GB card will give you several hundred photos. Cost is less than $10.
You really should not lower the resolution. you will lose detail that you may want in the future (really). (4GB card will hold over 999 pictures - $15)
If you must lower the resolution, press "Menu" and use the arrows to move the highlight bar to "resolution" ... change it to a lower number like 6MP. keep the "FINE" setting in place (if your model has that setting) or maybe "BEST".
Do not use "RAW" - (very large pix).
Hope this helps!
Instead of going to print size, you need to head to the quality tab of your camera. Here you will find the option for 640 x 480. This size is only good though for email quality. If you want a higher quality for printing images, you need to move that resolution up.
TIP: I myself have a casio camera and i take all my pictures at the highest availible quality. You can always reduce the file size on your computer, but you can never add quality. While it may take more space on my card, it is like the old saying about dressing warmly... you can always peel layers off....
