Started shutting off on it's own periodically. Could turn it back on no problems or later, would shut off again. Later, it became more consistant shutting off more frequently and now shuts off after 2-3 minutes after being on and won't come on again unless you wait 15-20 minutes. Still won't stay on beyond 2-3 minutes?
Since the set seems to recover somewhat, Id look for poor sonnections first rather than defective components. If you can solder and arecomfortable working inside the set, you may be able to fix this yourself. Are there any other symptoms other than just shutting down? For example, blinking standby lights?

I have the same problem on my hitachi model 50UX22B. When I turned the set on the light on the front panel turned red then started blinking then slowly faded off. Now it won't turn on. When I looked inside the back on the circuit board, one red lite was on. All green lights were off. I can hear it click when I push the on/off button, but nothing else happens. I found two fuses but they both look good.
