Changing the date on the Oposition is done by pulling out the crown to the first stop (pulling out to the second stop sets the time). Turn the crown clock-wise/counter-clockwise to change the date.
You can get instructions from their web site but if your watch is really old, then it seems unlikely that any of the instructions there are for your watch.

If you pull out crown gently, you will notice there are two clicks (positions), not just one. So the first click, when crown is not pulled out fully, is exactly for day/date adjustment.
