SOURCE: my computer do not recognize my canon vixia hf20

Be sure that you have installed he driver correctly ..and the cable is well plugged...,another thing to check is the camera's display and see if it asks for a connection confirmation in the moment you plug it in ...if it does..choose PC connect ..and after that will work ..
also check into the device manager and see if the camera is present there ..even if it appears in yellow with an ask sign on it ...this meaning that the driver is not installed or damaged or not the proper one..

select the operation system ..download ..reinstall and go for it ...but first check what I suggested..

SOURCE: My Canon VIXIA HV30 won't

This is usually caused by a failed component in the power circuit within the camera and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

Canon Vixia HG20 broken cable to view screen

Had the same problem with my HG20. Couldn't find a way to remove the housing and Canon won't tell you how to do it. I sent it in to Canon and it cost me $250 to fix it. You already have the cable so it might knock off a couple bucks. It's crazy what you have to pay for a camera to be repaired that's no longer under warranty. But you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. The service is great though. I sent mine in and they paid the shipping to and from their office. I got it back within a week of sending it in.

My Canon VIXIA HF 100 camcorder stooped recording videos. When i set it on video capture mode, it starts making noises (more like accessing hard disk ) and it's stuck there. same with the pic. As far...

Check out your memory card and insert another known good working card to see if that takes care of the issue. If that also does not work there is something amiss with the camera. Try a reset of electronics to factory defaults.

Can't seem to select any Auto Focus from the menu...it stays "greyed out" no matter what I do...it will manually focus, but auto focus cant be turned on.

If your camcorder is in "EASY" operation, it will not allow you to change certain features in the menu. On the other hand, if your camcorder is in "EASY" operation, it should be autofocusing.

Hope this helps you in some way.
