Battery shows fully charged, stays on for 3 minutes and freezes.
After charging the battery for 10 hours, the battery shows 100% charge, indicator has turned green, the phone comes on for 3-5 minutes then it freezes or powers off. When I try to power it back on either will not power on or it will power on and then I see a red screen which I assume is low battery and it freezes.
First I thought it was the battery I've bought two new batteries since but the same result.
I've tried charging it with a usb cable from a pc the same result.

I've heard this phone hasn't got a great battery life but this one I got cannot be used as it cuts off in the first 3 minutes after it was turned on. -----------
There is some improvement though when the phone has been charged in a cool room it stays on for 20 minutes, but still should stay on for at least 20 hours not 20 minutes. After the first phone call which lasts 3 minutes freezes again. -----------------
Anyone got a solution to this before I go and buy a new one and definetly not a HTC.

Got two new batteries on ebay from china, same result.
The charger is the original htc one, never used a cradle just when it wouldn't work with it's own charger, just charged it from my pc with a usb cable to a mini usb one.Thanks for the answer.

I got the same problem and after i gone to the service center they said that my mobile's mother board IC got damaged and needs to be replaced with new motherboard , i got the same charging problem and the red screen error, it costs me 35$ for servicing

I've had this happen. Try a soft reset, if that doesn't fix it - try a hard reset. If it still does this, you will need to replace the battery. It may either be a problem with the battery itself or the power regulation circuit that is built into the battery. Either way, replace the battery and it should fix it. Word of warning though, some aftermarket chargers actually reverse-charge the battery - I had a USB charge/data cradle that did this and I still have short-lived battery life on my new E2 battery if I use that cradle. I just stopped using it because it kills my E2.

Start it and check battery indicator (tray item) will probably say
plugged in fully charged (with adapter plugged in)
If the cell phone battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.
I have owned a Norelco 8894xl for over 10 years. My battery meter will show 127 minutes after the razor is fully charged. The battery is not over charged. This is normal and does not indicate a problem. Hope this helps.
SOunds like your battery is bad. try discharing it :
Place the battery in your camera until it itself turns off. In this situation, the battery is fully discharged.
Take out your battery and slide it into your battery charger.
Connect your charger with power to fully charge the battery. It is normal for a new battery that battery indicator shows 100% capacity in 10 to 15 minutes. Please keep charging until there is no time left for charging.
Fully charged and fully discharged or "cycled" as much as five times to condition them into performing at full capacity.
Try it and see if it works? If the batteries are not rechargeable then the problem is in the cameras power supply and you need to take it in or replace it.
Try to connect the AC adaptor of your laptop and plug it to the wall outlet and let it charge for 3 hours or more. When you plug it on the wall socket, it won't show the laptop's led blinking since it was totally drained. But after 3 minutes or more, it will start to show the blinking led to indicate charging. When blinking stops led light disappears, it is fully charged and ready to use.
Remember: Do not use your laptop while it is plugged in to save your battery life. When at home, remove the battery while it is fully charged and plug the AC adaptor directly to the wall outlet. It will still work without the battery as long as it is plugged directly to the wall socket.

indicators stop at full position. U must charge every phones battery a
maximum of 2 hours b'coz charging more than it reduces battery life and
if the battery is not fully charged in 2 hours u must charge it after
20 minutes again
