I cannot get my Asus U52F laptop to turn on.

The lid to my Asus U52F laptop was accidently closed without the computer being shutdown. Now the power light is lit up but the computer won't turn on. I plugged in the power supply but the battery light does not light up.

Most likely the laptop went into Sleep Or Hibernate.

If pressing a key on the keyboard does not bring up the log in screen or the desktop then try pressing the Power button. After a few seconds, Windows should come back up on the display.

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: ASUS A8JP Will Not Power On

"When the charger is connected to an AC source, the green LED shines steady and bright."

are you talking about the led on the AC-adaptor? cause if its that led that dims down, its a defective ac-adapter (even tho you still might not believe me). replace it and try again.

how would you know that the battery is fully charged?

please rate my solution after you have tested if it works out for you :)

Without looking at it sounds like a dead motherboard. You should be able to take it to a local shop and have then check it out for about $35-$50

Does it beep at you? Sounds like your PSU is pooped to be honest (unless you get beeps), I would take it to a repair shop and ask for a new power supply unit. Shouldn't set you back too much, don't get ripped off!

SOURCE: My Asus Altec will not

There is no reset as such, however you can try the old trick of removing the battery and ac adaptor, pressing the power on button and holding for 30 seconds, then reconnecting the mains supply (not battery) and see if it will then boot.

If this fails, you need to check the following:

  • check the power supply, the led should be bright green and not flashing, if it is, suspect the power is not reaching the laptop.
  • Check the security of the dc jack as it enters the laptop, if loose or sloppy, the jack port will need replacing
  • With a multimeter set to 20 volts, and the power supply plugged in, touch the RED terminal of the meter to the INNER part of the jack and the BLACK terminal to the outer of the jack. Getting less than 20 volts (give or take a couple of volts) means the adaptor is not putting out power.
  • If this fails, and / or you try another adaptor and it fails also, you will need to open the laptop. (google for a manual on this or you tube video)
  • On the motherboard, there will be a small ceramic fuse near the DC jack, using a multimeter set to OHMS, touch one probe to to one side of the fuse and the other to the opposite side, you should get a reading, if not, the main fuse is blown and will need replacing. (There may be another fuse near the battery, test this also to prove the battery circuit is working)
  • If the fuse gives a reading, I THINK this laptop has a DC jack with wire to motherboard not soldered onto the board, again using the multimeter set to OHMS, probe the positive (inner part of the jack socket) and connect the other probe to the terminal that connects to the motherboard (positive terminal) There may be 4 connections, 2 neg and 2 pos.
  • If the test fails, replace the socket.
After that, the likelihood is that there is a fault on the board and will need more specialist investigation

I put on my asus notebook pc but the screen didn't come on, what should I do?

have you tried hooking up an external monitor. If you can and it works you could possibly have an issue with your lcd panel
Or it could possibly be that your outputting to the wrong screen - most laptops have a "Fn" button that can be pressed in conjunction with a little screen on the keyboard to switch to either internal display or external(say F1 or F2).

there are several problems which cause the screen to experience the blackout.......
JUST TRY THESE SIMPLE STEPS TO SEE IF IT GONNA HELP.

Electrical hitches.
Remove your laptop's battery, unplug the power, hold power the button for 1 to 2 minutes, turn on computer with power plug only, then shutdown, add battery and restart

Magnetic On/Off Switch to detect of Close/Open Lid
Your magnet switch is fubar some how. Open up the speaker cover and see if your lid actuator switch that come in contact with the magnet on your lid cover is stuck or not (find where the magnet is in the back of the front lid cover, trace where the magnet area actually touches the base of the computer and you will find the switch) Workaround, start windows with lid at 30 degree angle

Software
Try Fn + F5 or something like that

How do I turn on wireless for Asus U52F-BBG6 notebook?

I believe that on the very top row of keys, the function keys, the third from the left, F2, is the wireless on/off button. Mine occasionally gets turned off by accident. Try tapping this button. It may take a few seconds for it to come up.

Notebook Crashes to PowerOff state when lid is closed

Running intense program with the lid closed will cause a sharp rise in temperature making the laptop hotter than it should be leading it into a shutdown. The second issue, windows should be shutdown properly rather than closing the lid, this makes the operational system unstable and will cause files to corrupt eventually.

Hi Icapelis...
Sorry...I did not come up with any service manual for your ASUS U52F-BBL5 anywhere on the net in my searches.
But I did came up with a youtube video of how to replace the lcd screen on an Asus U52f there is other videos showing how to disassemble other parts of the laptop.
Most laptops are disassembled about the same, just watch some of the videos and I am sure you will do fine. Just take your time and make sure you remember how to reassemble the laptop, write it down if necessary.
Always remove your battery before starting any repairs.
Sometimes the heating problem in laptop is dust buildup inside of the computer.
You might try to use some compressed air to blow out the dust of the laptop, You can use the kind in a can, but I perfer to use 90psi compressor air .
Just blow the air stream in the exaust first, then the intake, you will keep reversing the air flow untill all the dust is out of the computer.
Do not over spin the fan.
This may eliminate your heating problem.

Try removing the laptop from the doc, pulling out the battery, hold the power button down for 10-20 seconds, and re-install the battery.

This should drain out the laptop and it should boot up properly without the dock.
