I am looking to upgrade my CPU It has a Wistron 360A motherboard and AMD Athlon Dual Core ql60 1.90 Ghz at this time Thanks, Jim
Changing a CPU rquires a bit of research. Like, What are the parameters of AMD CPU's that will work with the Mobo. That said, Take a look at this: http://products.amd.com/pages/notebookcpuresult.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 AND: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/294136-28-will-work-wistron-360a-motherboard-persario-cq50z AND: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/361215-my-cpu-upgradable-specs-inside.html. That should get you started. ALSO this free program may assist you: http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/
Thanks, I have seen all of the info that has been provided to me,however I just
Its so difficult to get to correct information I have seen all of the info provided Once you have the mod# and manufacture of the motherboard you should be able to get a list of CPU upgradesI contacted HP and they were no help at all they just wanted to sell me a new computerI did see a reply in Google search that somone with my exact model was installing an Intel t7700 and after he finished he stated the speed was doubled and the heat problem was solved with the new processor
You have a AMD Mobo, you can only use AMD processors. The Model of you computer isn't the issuse so much as the model of the Mobo. Variations of your model laptop have different specs. Fing the Make, Model of MOTHERBOARD and , if you can locate it, the specs will give you the AMD CPU's That are compatible with YOUR MOTHERBOARD. Here a little program that may assist you:http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy... Sometimes the specs for YOUR MOTHERBOARD can not be found.
This manual has all the different configurations of your laptop with AMD Mobos and with Intel Mobos, yours is a AMD.(http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01... , On page 82 you will find ALL the AMD CPU's that will work on YOUR AMD MOTHERBOARD. Always cross-reference with the Mobo Manufacturer's specs.

SOURCE: 1.8 GHz Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ processor upgrade
To upgrade your system with AMD 3000+ sempron processor is a little bit difficult. AMD 3000+ requires a new motherboard that may not be compatible with your laptop. So I suggest you to get your laptop exchanged with a new one with the above.

It's not posible to upgrade to a dual core, the motherboard is a different design. Keep in mind that the processor, motherboard and memory have a matched frequency. If the processor doesn't match the board then it won't recognize it. Since the board does recognize the T2300, it may be that you need to match the memory in order to get it to boot. Match the memory by going to patriotmem.com and entering the model that the T2300 came from, it will tell you the memory frequency. If the memory matches the processor simply will not work with that board.

SOURCE: Can I upgrade my CPU to an Intel Core 2 duo 1.7
You are basically limited to what was optional on the model. So you can only upgrade to one of the following cpus:
Intel Pentium M 745 (1.8-GHz) with 400-MHz front
side bus (FSB)
Intel Pentium M 735 (1.7-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 725 (1.6-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 710 TJ85 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB;
operates at a lower temperature than other processors
Intel Celeron M 340 (1.5-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Celeron M 330 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
And you are limted to 2gb of ram max on this model.

Many Thanks,The HP manual shows all the different processors used in CQ50 215nr and if I am following you correctlyI should choose from the AMDlistfor my upgrade?
That is correct Your Motherboard is ONLY for AMD, Intel WILL NOT FIT/WORK on YOUR AMD motherboard. You cannot use Intel processors.
Thank You sir,you have saved me alot of headaches, now I hope I can find a new processor,I have seen a few that are use however I would prefer a new one Thanks again for all the help!!!
I have purchased many used CPU's over the years, some as low as $6.00, i've had very good luck. But of course , the choise is yours. Take a look on the used Computer Parts websites and Ebay, to get and idea of the price difference. Your processor is not bad. Have you added more Memory, (If you have a 32 bit OS , your OS can only use appx. 3.80GB's)? Faster HDD, (5400 to 7200rpm's)? Just a processor isn't going to improve as much as you may think. It's a system, component depends on the other component. Make sure you do all the research . Take a look at this :http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Dual-co...
