If the default password on the D-Link has been changed then -
To reset the D-Link back to the default settings -
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON until the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESET button. (firmware version was 3.00, and upgraded to 3.05) Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..

The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. (WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access). Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

The d link dir 300 was not able to detect by the laptop
your laptop may be using wireless b specs while your dir300 is setup to give out wireless g signal only. try to set it to mixed mode.

I set up dlink dir300 router and pc and other
go to your adapter settings for the notebook that does not work and clear off your network connection try to re-discover your router, and enter the same code you used to log in with the notebook that works. Sounds like you have an IP from the router, but no access.

Problems during istalation of dir-300 D-Link
the firewall in your computer is preventing the CD to run out and look for the router that is connected to it. try to disable your firewall first the run the CD.
