You need to take the back cover off using a special tork wrench. If you don't have one a thin blade screw driver usually works. after getting the back cover off access is pretty easy to remove the screws from the panel. Make sure to discharge the capacitor before attempting any repairs and unplugged of course.

Hello Our oven (GE Microwave Oven JE2160) is not working, while the touch control panel light is on. I am sure the fuse inside the oven is blown. Can any one help me on: 1. The size of the screw driver /...

If your appliance has absolutely no functions at all, remove it from the mains supply, remove the case, it may be a Torx15 or Allen style screw head, and see where the mains lead goes in to the appliance and follow the cable until you find the main fuse.
ONLY USE THE SAME TYPE AND RATING OF FUSE TO REPLACE IT.

Information on where to aquire a special fuse can be got from the manufacturers web site and browse for dealers. The usual cause of this fuse failure is the door switches are contaminated or sticking. Check the door switches before putting power back on to the appliance.
Hope this helps.

You have a serioius problem which requires professional intervention. Your oven should Never 'arc' between the door and the cabinet. Evidently, the oven is charging the door (which should not happen) and the charge is not properly leaking to a proper ground.

How to change fuse on je2160sf02 ge microwave

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Also at our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

I would also suspect the thermostat associated with your magnetron.

Does not work ... control panel lit and buttons work ... does not start to spin (turntable), no light in unit, etc.

Sounds like one of your door switces is bad. Could be a thermal fuse. Make sure the cost of a new unit is not in the same range as having it repaired. This product works with high voltage and it is not recommended for the do-it-yourselfer to repair!

Display panel works but no heat, no fan, turn table doesn't turn

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

GE JE2160 light turns on when you open the door, but no display

This is probably a problem on the control panel, which we regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week with a one-year guarantee.

But I'd like to first see the the
"mini-manual" (tech sheet) which should be hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille.

You can scan (at 300 dpi) at least the "schematic diagram" page and e-mail it to me at [email protected] or you can fax it (in "detail" or super fine" mode) toll-free to 866-481-2802.

That way I first can see if anything else you can check might be the problem instead.
