Awhile back when I had onboard video, i tried using my monitor and my tv thru hdmi and the monitor screen went black, everytime I would start the pc the power button would turn yellow like it was sleeping.. i just tried hooking it to another computer and the light turns blue, and the screen in black, for a split second it will display perfectly what is on the screen, then black again.. seems like its every 40 seconds, or min it will display for a spit second, then go black again is there anything I could do to fix this monitor? I am not sure what would cause this. In a few months Im going to get a new hd monitor, but in the meantime im trying to play games on an old XLR monitor and its driving me crazy.. I now have a gtx 560 card in my main pc but, back to the monitor, to sum it up.. the power light stays blue, the screen is black, almost like its not even on.. and every min or so it flashes for half a second, or a second and shows whats on screen?
Well, its a 2003 LDC 13 years old ,
its bad
the monitor itself of the power pack to it is bad.
you can test it on any PC< or laptop made
if its dead on all , then its dead.
what more needs saying,
older LCD monitors had old CCFL, lamps. that love to fail
newer are LED back lights that last for ever. it seems
so up grade?
seems your back light is dead
ever do the flash light trick
shine it at the dead screen see good data
yes, then the CCFL is DEAD< (or its power supply ,deep inside)
fixed may but would never do a 2003, not now.
lots of used good LED for sale,

Have you tried connecting this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. This would tell you whether the display is bad or the video card is the culprit. I suspect the monitor's power supply is dying. Taking it to a pro for repair should cost @55.00. Buying a new monitor @ $100 - $125.

If the power light does not turn color and stay's green on startup, it is not a power problem. It is most likely the inverter. If the unit is in warranty, send it out ASAP. Contact HP customer care by email and have the issue logged in.
If in warranty, they will send you a box by FedX second day and have repaired.
This is a 19" monitor and will not be worth paying for repairs if not in warranty.

the computer still runs when it goes blank.. its strange.. cause I cant tell when its blank, if its on at all.. the power light does go yellow like it did at first.. it stays blue, but only a split second it comes up and shows whats on screen.. I dont have a sodder gun, but I could get one.. but how do I tell if its the backlight display or whatever and the other thing mentioned?
keep in mind, when this happend.. i was trying to run 2 monitors at the same time, one a hd monitor, and I was messing with the resolution or whatever, and I think it tried to match the resolution on the LCD the same as the 60 inch TV i had running thru hdmi, its almost like it shorted out my small monitor cause it instantly stopped working
hello experts.. how the hell are ya? LOL do you have a clue as to what is wrong with my lcd screen? I really would appreciate even a NO to KNOW that people are even here
