The volume on my TV would randomly start to decrease and goes down to zero, just as if I was pressing the volume down button on the remote. Pressing the volume up button on the remote will most times bring the volume back up. Pressing the volume up button on the side of the TV will always bring the volume back up. The above pressing of UP buttons does not totally fix the problem because after a while the volume will automatically go down again. Sometimes while pressing the volume up button on the remote to restore the volume after it was automatically reduced, there appears to be a battle between the volume up and whatever is causing the volume down. I have checked and found that there are no stuck buttons on the remote or on the side of the TV. I thought that the volume down problem was being caused by the remote itself going rogue and sending out the signal to bring down the volume on its own, so I removed the batteries and left it for a while. I even removed the remote from the room. The problem occured again with the remote in a non-functional state. Has anyone seen this problem? Can anyone provide a solution to my problem? Thanks in advance. Donald

Hello lily liver,
The problem with the television not being able to receive signal from the remote seems not to be too strange a problem as these devices can come up with mind bursting problems.
The problem with the television simply is from the sensor of the television. There is a metal that holds the televisions sensor so as for it to be able to receive signal from the remote. The metals could be rusty and break off the position where it is meant to be and would be having partial contact on the main board of the television.
The entire control panel is also linked to this sensor board, that is why it acts funny once in a while. The best thing to do is to have the control panel on the television replaced as well as the sensor light on the television. It is no longer receiving signal properly from the remote.
Resetting the television could last only for a period of time, therefore, the lasting solution to the problem is simply for you to have the control panel of the television replaced as well as the remote sensor that is in the television.
The solution to the problem is simply for you to replace the control board and the sensor of the television. That would solve the problem for you.
Hope this information was helpful in solving the problem.
All the best

The volume down button on front of TV is stuck down or the switch is bad.
Testimonial: "Indeed that turned out to be the problem. It was my parents' TV, and they said they never even pressed the buttons on the unit. Luckily, it was still under Costco's free extended warranty."
