I'm not sure if this will help because I haven't seen a 2060 control panel but most Canon fax machines use the same process. Press either "menu" or "data registration" button. (Again -I'm not sure of 2060 control panel.) Display should read "user settings" Press the "down arrow" (looks like an upside down triangle) until the display reads "tel settings" Press "set" Display reads Speed Dials Press "set" Display should give the # of the speed dial (ie. Speed Dial 01) Press "set" Display reads "tel number" Press "set" input # you want to send faxes to Press "set" Display reads "Name" Press "set" use letters on keypad to input receivers name (ie. For letter "C" press #2 three times, you may have to use the arrow keys to move the cursor for names such as BC Corp) Once name is input - you guessed it- Press "set" you will now be presented with various other send options which most people/businesses never use. You can hit stop to return to normal mode. After inputting speed dial #'s & names, you can print a list of what you have input by getting back to the "Tel registration" screen & pressing the report button. I can be reached @ [email protected] if you need more assistance. Good Luck!!

How to specify fax machine to dial '9' before fax number?

Hello ilay,

This procedure is from the Brother FAX-4100e FAQ link:

Storing Speed Dial numbers:
You can store Speed Dial locations on your machine(*). Once you have programmed the Speed Dial number on your machine, you can dial the number by pressing Search/Speed Dial, #(Pound Sign), the Speed Dial number, and then Fax Start.
*The number of locations you can store varies by machines. Please refer to the User's Guide for your machine. The latest User's Guide is available in the Manuals section.

To store Speed Dial numbers follow the steps listed below:

1. Press Menu.
2. Press the left or right arrow key to select Fax and press Set.
3. Press the left or right arrow key to select Set Auto Dial or Set Quick Dial, and press Set.
4. Press the left or right arrow key to select Speed-Dial and press Set.
5. Use the dial pad to enter the location (Speed Dial number) where you wish to store the number and press Set.
6. Enter the number you want to store (up to 20 digits) and press Set.

Note:
If you want to enter a pause in the dialing sequence (to wait for an outside line, for example), press Redial/Pause as you're entering digits. Pressing Redial/Pause enters a 3.5-second pause when the number is dialed, and a dash appears on the screen. If you need a pause longer than 3.5 seconds you can press Redial/Pause as many times as needed.
7. Use the dial pad to enter the name or company name (up to 15 characters) and press Set.
If you want to store the number without a name, just press Set.
8. Return to STEP 5 to store another Speed Dial number or press Stop/Exit to exit the menu.

I have a Brother IntelliFax-4100e fax that speed dial button 04 needed to be changed when we changed our phone system to include a 9 at the beginning of the number. Did that, it was 'accepted', but still...

go into menu, then to fax (hit set) then one touch speed dials (hit set) then hit the 04 one touch button and it should show you what is programmed. You can hit number 1 to change, type the number with a 9 in front of it(ie. 9+1+area code+7 digit number) then hit set and program a name for the number, hit set until the fax beeps to accept the change. You can test it with a blank cover sheet. That's how I have mine at work set up and it works fine. Hope this helps.

I work for the county and I have to dial a code # first

18001234567,1234567890,1234567890

program your speed dial with 'symbols(button)' between the groups of numbers,
the 'symbols' adds a 2second delay between the dialed characters at that point.
except for the first 'symbol' the first 'symbol' pauses till the other end answers the phone and handshaking has taken place.

If the numbers are not always the same, program two speed dials, one for the 1800, one for the password.
and when sending
speeddial1 number speeddial2
