i just bought a new battery too, and the remote still doesn't work.

Same thing changed the battery, and still NO results. Can anyone give advise or help solve the problem(remote problem, receiver problem, or unit problem)?

I had the same problem and tried the solution suggested by adlerpsy I didn't have a can of air so used a bicycle pump! it worked a treat. Thanks adlerpsy

Using a hair dryer - no heat - and blowing around the grill for a minute or so worked. I am not sure where the remote sensor is, but I leaned the Bose so that light reflects off of what's behind the grill and you can see what appears to be one or two areas that look like the sensor. Concentrate the air on them, problem solved.

I used the small brush tool on a dyson cordless vac. So that's what it is used for :-)
Worked perfectly, many thanks for the tip.

I had the same problem. Very frustrating. Tried everything. Discovered the solution. The device that the remote control sends a signal to is located inside the grill of the SoundDock. The receiving device has a lens (which we can't see since it is hidden inside the grill). It can get dust on it that interferes in the signal being received and the remote can then only adjust the volume up and down but no other feature. I sprayed my grill with a can of air. Not being sure exactly where the device is, I sprayed the entire grill, being careful to spray from six inches or so from the grill. Just like that - the remote then was immediaely fully functional and I have ever since been able to use all of the remote's functions. Steve

Yes, compressed air spraying worked for me! I think the hairdryer solution worked because of blowing air on it, having nothing to do with heat. Thanks, Anonymous.

To expand on lskhn's solution. If the light is not coming on and the battery has alread been changed it may be the connection. I fixed mine by folding aluminum foil three thicknesses and slid the battery in on top making a better connection to the lead that goes to the flat of the battery. I was able to hold the foil in the right distance with excess and then removed the excess once the battery sled was in place.

Take the battery out and with your fingernail stretch the spring out a little so it will push the battery up more. Did the trick when the remote wasn't working out of the box brand new.

Have you tried another Ipod in the dock? I tried another Ipod and everything worked perfectly, seems like it is an Ipod issue and not a Sounddock issue on mine

Some time the connection to the battery is bad maybe try a metal shim to make the connection more solid.

had same problem replaced batter no change started to press the play pause hard and managed to push the battery closer to the metal.

Found the same problem and worked out the ipod wasn't in the cradle properly, it was playing sound but no control from the remote (RWD, FFD etc) just wiggled it in the cradle a bit and it works fine now..

I popped the grill off after using a hair dryer on cool didn't do the trick and cleaned the sensor(surrounded by black foam material) with Vodka. Works like it's supposed to now.

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.

Bose sound dock - no sound comes through it but my ipod works with the ear plugs so it's not my ipod

I had this problem for the pat two days. Believe it or not I took my Ipod touch of the dock. Shut the power off to the Ipod to reset it. Also the power to the docking station. turned everything back on. Put the Ipod back into the docking station and heard the beep.. and hit play and it was working again. Not sure but shutting Ipod off does act like a reset.

Bose docking station problem. Remote will not work on either my ipod touch or I Phone. The volume buttons work on the remote but the skip and pause/play buttons do not. The Bose is brand new and straight...

If it is brand new. It is under warranty. Go back to the store where it was purchased and tell them the problem. They should replace it with another new one. Have them show you how to use it on all of the functions on your Bose Docking Station. Make sure you tell them about the ipod Touch and the iPhone.

Does the new bose dock station charge the new ipod touch (32g)?

The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this. But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock. If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod) btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.

Bothe the docking station and the remote are useless I recommend you buy a universal remote control. For the Ipod switching off-it does'nt switch off reason being it has it's own battery and does not depend on the electrical power of the docking station.

Bose docking statoin

They both use the same speakers, my personal opinion deems they are both the same. However the second SoundDock charges via USB pin, so it is future proof for future iPods.
