Hey there.

I had the same problem until i figured out that if u dont have surround speakers connected it will be a error when trying to configure the rear surround speakers.

So if u are running a 5.1 system and have hooked up ur surround speakers to the back surround speaker port u have to change them to the surround speaker port.

Hope this work for u

No surround sound on rear speakers and cant access speaker set up functions. left front channel not working when rears set up without surround

from the problem description, it sounds like a wiring/setup problem with the speakers. check to make sure you are only using the main 'a' front r & l speaker connectors. if you select speaker set a + b on the front, you will not have the rear channels. please see the speaker connection guidelines in the manual on page 13-15. make sure the audessey mike and/or headphones are not plugged in when trying to use the speaker set up function.

Speaker Calibration error with Onkyo TX-SR607 using Audyssy 2EQ

The only thing I can think of is that the microphone that detects speaker signals is in a position that blocks the sound from that speaker. When it's testing there should be no noise from anything or anyone.

Speaker is not detected

If you are connecting a 5.1 surrround sound rather than 7.1, have you connected the surround speakers to the surround left and surround right rather than surround back left and surround back right?

Hi there. If you are running a 5.1 speaker system, make sure your surround speakers are on the surround terminal NOT ON THE SURROUND BACK. the surround back is only for the 7.1 speaker system.

Rear left channel not working on Onkyo NR801

Sounds as if it's time for a shop visit, unless you want to try this yourself. The panel connection on the rear of the receiver, or the protection relay have apparently come loose from the circuit board. It happens sometimes when stress causes the cabling to pull on the back of the unit..accordianman

So your saying that you have no rear channel. Some recivers use a single stereo output ic for both sides on the rear speakers. you could have a defect with this IC . Anther thing Im sure you check3ed the obvious ie : the switch is on suround sound? If there is a front to rear fader is it in the middle? Good Luck
