To open the battery compartments firmly press down on the arrows with your thumbs and push it out. You should feel the cover unlatching as you firmly press down and out.

Nonsense. I have pretty strong hands and, no matter how hard I pushed/pressed, covers would not budge. You should NOT have to exert this amunt of force when doing such a simple function on a child's toy. It is either a design flaw or a a result of cheap manufacturing processes. Either way, it is junk and is going back tomorrow, still unopened.

Vice grips? You have to be joking. On a child's computerised toy? I have pretty powerful hands and I could not get the get the latches to budge, no matter how hard I pressed/pushed. I ended up giving up in frustration. It simply should not be so difficult to do. Poor design. It is going back to the shop tomorrow.

You have to squeeze the arrows as hard as you can while pushing in the direction of the arrows.

SOURCE: Hello. My daughter's Leapster

Have you tried putting new batteries? If yes and still has no sound then look for the warranty and bring it back to the store where you bought it so they can repair it for free.

SOURCE: There was a problem when

Instead of 1 starter game and a few demo game that you get from Leapfrog Connect, you can also get more downloadable games for your Leapster 2. You can get it here:
leapster-2.blogspot.com
But you have to make sure your Leapster 2 have SD Card and your Leapster 2 can connect to PC using Leapfrog connect. Try to uninstall and re-install the LeapFrog Connect and wait until it finish configuring and updated the software both on the PC and the console, It may takes 10-20 mins for it to complete updating.

One more thing, you have to make sure that you get latest LeapFrog Connect software from LeapFrog website instead of installing it from supplied CD.

I would try resetting it. You could also try calibrating the screen. The GS screen has a static orientation, so this seems like a very odd problem.

I gave my son a leapster explorer about a month now and it's volume just stopped working and it wont hear anything.

Hello,
there are three basic reasons why the leapster explorer won't bring out sound.
1. Defective speaker
The speaker of your leapster explorer maybe defective, this can make it not bring out any sound. Disassemble the leapster explorer, check the speaker part, test the speaker with a AA battery. If you hear any sound using the battery, then it means there is nothing wrong with the speaker.
2. Loose wire connection
Disassemble the leapster explorer, check the wires connecting the speaker to the board. Check for any wire cut, or loose connection which can cause the speaker not to bring out sound. . 3. Sound IC/Card/Board
If non of the above is the cause of the problem, then it means the leapster explorer is having a defective sound ic/board/card. There is an IC on the board of the leapster explorer which is responsible for sound. If this ic has a shot, there won't be any sound. If this be the cause, I think it's high time to took the leapster explorer to a repairman because this requires skill.
I hope the above is clear. If not, please let me know for further assistance.
Regards.

How can i change pets on pet pals for leapster explorer

Turn on your child's Leapster Explorer handheld.
When the SIGN-IN menu shows up, press the left D-pad and Hint button at the same time.

howtogettoparentsettings.jpg
This will give you the PARENT SETTINGS menu.
You will need to start them from scratch to choose a new pet. It is sad but at current it is the only way to choose a new pet.
