Disc door keeps opening.

I have a 5 disc cd changer by Yamaha cdc 585. When I put discs in, the door will shut, but immediatly opens back up! The door stays shut when there are no cd's in it. Any ideas on how to make it work properly or why it's doing this?

Thanks, Carla

The drawer belt may also lift the laser up to meet the CD . If the belt is bad , the CD player will kick out the CD.
Change the belt.

Unit plays well but door goes in OPEN position and will not play and if I keep try it will start to play

Honestly, when the mechanical parts wear to this extent, you're better off to buy a new CD/DVD player, since they are so much cheaper than repairing older units.

The disc tray of my Yamaha cdc-745 CD player does open properly.

It's the belt inside the machine - open tray and look in front left side and you will see it. Easy to change out with new one.

DOOR KEEPS OPENING instead of playing

Hi. there is a tiny limit switch that regulates the actual CD platform drawer(The part where you lay down the CD). this switch if faulty. it is designed to shut of the load motor when the CD tray is fully inside the unit.

this limit switch must be replaced. this is a job for a qualified Yamaha service tech. contact Yamaha for this repair.

Yamaha cdc 555 5 disc cd player

If you trust yourself enough to open the case w/o breaking stuff, then open it up UNPLUGGED, locate the laser lens (small, clear, plastic) gently clean the lens with a swab of lens cleaner for glasses.
Also clean the chrome runners that the laser assembly tracks on.
