Question about Arris 3360 AT&T DSL Modem - -

1 Answer

My at&t Motorola 3360 has every light blinking but is still working. The Power and DSL are continuously blinking red and the ethernet, internet and activity are all blinking green.

I guess it's not a "PROBLEM" yet because it still works. I unplugged it all night, pushed reset on it before turning it on and still it continues to blink away - non-stop, unusual from normal. Have had this unit for about 4mths or less, I think. It's still working. Just don't understand all this blinking.

My modem is blinking unlike never usually. As I said, the POWER and DSL lights blink red and all others green, not in response to signals, activity or anything. I did just recieve something from at&t saying a hardware error has occurred and it may work awhile but is gonna go down supposively. Lucky me. I'll call the number they have here. I said I've had the unit at least 4mths. I wouldn't be asking questions about usual lighting, although I know you have ignorant people who would. This is continuous blinking of all five lights all together except two red and three green. It's not broke yet. It does not stop this behavior with reset while turned on. Thanks for trying.

Hi,

Here's the thing...if the modem is unplugged, and you press the "Reset" button, or any button, nothing will happen because the modem is UNPLUGGED.

When you plug it in again, there is usually a few minutes or so during which time the lights will blink. Eventually, when the DSL connection is established, the blinking should decrease. But, there will always be some blinking going on to indicate that data is being transmitted.

If the "Ethernet" light is blinking, then a computer that is plugged into the router is transmitting/receiving data. If the "Wireless" light is blinking, then a computer that using a wireless connection to the router is transmitting/receiving data.

If a red light blinks, then that usually means the DSL connection has been broken. When that happens, for whatever reason, the modem will automatically begin its initialization routine and will continue to do so until connection has been established. During that time, LEAVE IT ALONE.

If you uplug the device, or if you press ANY button while the device is attempting to correct itself, you can cause permanent damage.

So, you are correct. It's not a problem. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "If it's not broken, then don't fix it." There's a lot of truth to that.

I hope this helps.

That isn't her issue. I'm having the same thing. It is very abnormal to how the modem used to work. It occurred recently. ALL OF THE LIGHTS blick the same...except two are red, the rest green. They are all blinking together, the same frequency. It's very abnormal. I would like to figure this out also. AT&T told me to take it to a store and let them look at it. Again...the connection is still working...but something is not right.

Our 3360 is doing the same thing. And this isn't the first time. We're on our 3rd one of these things. Our experience is that the modem will continue to work in this state for some time, but, as Karen was told, it's days are numbered. Could go out at any time. AT&T offers no solution except to buy another modem! If anyone knows any other answer, please tell me, as this is a bit ridiculous.

SOURCE: Cannot set up Motorola Surfboard SB5120 modem

This usually means something is not correct with your incoming signal. If your cable wire into the modem is being run off an amplifier in the wall this could be effecting your service. If the signal is too strong the modem won't be able to communicate for internet.

You could check the incoming wire to see if it is running off an amplifier. If it is you would need to run a new line that is not on the amplifier. I would recommend comcast coming out to check the signal frequency and make the necessary adjustments.

Laptop wont boot up, black screen, has power

You didn't post the Make, Model of Laptop or the OS you are using. I'll use a Win 7 solution. Boot the Laptop, open the Control Panel, select Power Options, set to High Performance, select Change Plan Settings, set SLEEP to Never, select Change Advanced Power settings, go through the settings , set SLEEP and Hibernate to Never, Power buttons and Lid to shut down. Always shut down and unplug your laptop when not in use to prevent damage from power surges and possible Fire hazard IF the battery malfunctions. A reboot every day will reset the computer.

Try to unplug from power both the set and the box for several minutes and then power both back up---this will allow both to try to reboot.

Dryer won't start

If you look closely, there are 3 separate pins that must latch. One is a simple push-button style which latches no problem.
The others are little prongs at the top and bottom of door. The bottom prong latches cleanly, but the top one will not latch because the door is a bit too flexible.
Close the door normally, then firmly press on the top edge of the door. You will hear the final latch grab, then you press and hold the start button. The dryer starts normally.
