What password are you wanting to change? You can change any password, except Auditron access without changing the configuration.
Even changing the auditron does not change the machine settings, that will just make you set the limits.
You can change any password safely without affecting the configuration..

Reset the forgotten Xerox workcentre 3225 admin password

If you have forgotten the admin password for your Xerox WorkCentre 3225, you can reset it to the default factory settings using the following steps:
  1. Turn off the printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Access the control panel: Press and hold the "0" button on the printer's control panel while turning on the power switch. Keep holding the "0" button until "Accessing Service Menu" appears on the display.
  3. Access the Diagnostics menu: Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button until "Diagnostics" is highlighted on the display, then press the "OK" button.
  4. Access the Service Tools menu: Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button until "Service Tools" is highlighted, then press the "OK" button.
  5. Reset the password: Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button until "Reset Password" is highlighted, then press the "OK" button. Enter "1111" when prompted for the password and press the "OK" button.
  6. Restart the printer: Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow button until "Restart System" is highlighted, then press the "OK" button. The printer will restart and the password will be reset to the default.
Note that resetting the password to the default will remove any custom settings or configurations you have set up on the printer. It's also important to note that some models of Xerox printers may have slightly different steps, so it's always best to refer to the user manual or contact Xerox support for assistance if you're unsure about any of these steps

How to reset admin password on phaser 3635

xerox machines come with default passwords.
once that password is changed only the changer knows it.

the reset requires a xerox laptop/tech to reset and they "will bill" you for doing it.

How do I reset a Xerox Phaser 4500 Centreware password to factory default.. or what is the factory default password? I have on which has been changed and nobody seems to know the PW anylonger

this should restore it to default.

By default there is no username or password required to access CentreWare Internet Services. If a username and password have been configured for CentreWare Internet Services and you do not remember the username and / or password, reset the printer to factory defaults (NVRAM reset).
To reset the NVRAM, go to the front panel's Main Menu:
  1. Select Troubleshooting, then press the OK button.
  2. Select Service Tools, then press the OK button.
  3. Select Reset NVRAM, press the OK button.
  4. Select Reset NVRAM and Reset Printer NOW, then press the OK button to reset all the settings to their factory default values.

Error 016-311 xerox workcentre M128

This error code means the Scanner is not installed. The reason for this code could be a bad or diconnected interface cable, or corrupt system software. Check the cables for connectivity. If the problem persists, it will probably require a call to Xerox service. 800-821-2797
