You need a coax wire from DVD coax to Receiver Coax input. Don't put the red and white wire from DVD to Receiver because you don't need it. Thats what the coax wire those.
try and see if that works.

Why does my avr 100 say OPTI.when i try to play the radio, and no sound comes out

It is trying to input a signal via the Optical digital input. You need to switch the input control on the front panel or remote to Analog.

Assuming a single cause we need to isolate which single device is involved in all these failure modes.

"It comes out of both speakers" on what - the TV?

You don't say how the DVD interefaces with the receiver. Is the DVD feeding digital multichannel audio out at that time? Many DVD's are simple stereo until the show actually begins. You know that.

Try running an HDMI connection straight to the TV from the cable box. Result?

Substitute the other HDMI cable for the first one. Result?

If either one does NOT work satisfactorily we may have part of the problem isolated.

If they both work, the TV and cables are ok.

Attach the HDMI out of the receiver and IN to the TV and the HDMI from the Cable Box as before. Same result?

Can you try using Component Video out of the receiver to the TV just to change something in the equation? On my rig I 'see' no difference between HDMI and Component Video on my HDTV. A change in the result may help to isolate or work around part of your problem.

I'd recommend you go for minimal receiver involvement in the video side other than to send composite video to the TV from "Monitor Out" so you can set up and manage the receiver.

You can also send Cable- or Sat Box basic analog audio directly to the TV if it has inputs for audio. That way if you just want to watch the news or weather you don't need to fire up the Pioneer.

Your video sources (DVD, BD, Cable/Sat) will suffer fewer video anomalies if you send their best video directly to the TV and their best audio directly to the receiver. That way everything is handled only once by the best electronics you have for each function.

I could be sitting right in my driveway and i put in a DVD, how come it keep saying can not function this while driving??

The reason why is because the receiver is not registering that you have a constant ground connected to the parking brake. Depending on the model, you should be able to hook the wire that tells you parking brake up to the ground wire of the receiver. If that doesn't work, then you are going to need to use a switch that is hooked up directly to ground. Based on the last Pyle receiver I saw, you should be able to do the parking brake wire to ground and be fine.

NO AUDIO/set up problems

For this Sony, you have to use separate audio cable(s). Either optical in BD or Digital Audio in DVD (single coaxial cable will do the trick) I bet the display says UNLOCK. I had the same problem, very dumb.

Good day!

We are unable to have sound for the DVD player and game systems

The receiver is looking for a specific "audio input" It's currently locked on analog or digital. Using the Sony remote, go into the main menu for the receiver, toggle to audio and select "auto" that should do the trick. Hope this helps

Harmon Kardon unlock error

I have the same problem. All of a sudden no sound through my TV connection (but through the DVD connection the sound was still working). I changed the connection from video 1 to video 2 and got the sound back. It is not a real solution, but a practical one :-)

No sound on DVD mode

Make sure when you select DVD mode that it's not set to "6 ch". (The display will say "DVD 6CH") If you are in the 6CH mode, Use the remote to switch out of this mode by hitting the DVD button again. Hope this helps.

Unable to hear dvd audio when dvd playing on Sony STR-DE575

Hi The first thing to do is disconnect the red and white audio cables from the back of the receiver, and plug them directly into the tv. If you then have sound from the DVD, then you have eliminated the possability of no audio coming out of the DVD player. If the DVD player checks out fine, then I would try plugging the jacks into another aux input on the receiver, and select that and see what happens. Also, if there is a "tape monitor" button on your Sony, make sure it is turned off. I'll assume the receiver has sound from other functions, so it would be rare for one of the inputs to just stop working, (but certainly not impossible), I'm not familiar with that model, and normally I would say it could just be a dirty selector switch, but since you mentioned having a remote, then switching between inputs is done by the microprocessor, not a physical switch, so if you cannnot get sound through using another input, then it could be expensive to repair. Hope this helps, and good luck!
