Wiring for a Honeywell RTH2310B

We are replacing an old Automag thermostat, which controls just gas hot water baseboard heat in an upstairs zone.  There are 3 wires --Red (R), White (W), and Green (hooked up to B).  The new thermostat has R,Y,W,G, and Rh.  How do we connect our wires?

SOURCE: program manual for honeywell thermostat model T8700C1005(1)

try holding the up and down arrow, down, at the same time, see if the time or temperature starts flashing. also the cover should lift up so you can change from heat to cool, there should be a program button or a set button to hold down. all you should have to do is adjust the time and temperature for the 4 settings during the week and the two on the weekend. should be really easy, let me know if you need some more help

SOURCE: need to hook up a honeywell rth2310b with only 2 wires!

In some situations the wall plate has no markings, there are just two terminals hooked up to the control wire for the heater. I just installed this thermostat on my gas fireplace. I connected the black wire to the Rc terminal and the white wire to the W terminal. With the thermostat set to heat it works perfectly. Thanks to johnptaylor for the help!

My freestanding thermostat for on zone of my hot water baseboard heat is not working. I have replaced the batteries. will run once but will not keep running to reach the desired temperature.

There are several possible reasons why your freestanding thermostat for one zone of your hot water baseboard heat is not working properly, even after replacing the batteries:
  1. Wiring issues: Check the wiring connections between the thermostat and the heating system. Make sure that all wires are securely connected and not loose or frayed.
  2. Sensor issues: The thermostat may have a malfunctioning sensor that is not able to accurately read the room temperature.
  3. Mechanical issues: The thermostat may have a mechanical problem such as a faulty switch or a broken internal component.
  4. Compatibility issues: Make sure that the thermostat you are using is compatible with your hot water baseboard heating system.
  5. Incorrect settings: Make sure the thermostat is set to the correct temperature, and that the thermostat is in the right mode (heat or cool)
It's recommended to call a professional HVAC technician to diagnose the problem and provide a solution. If the thermostat is still under warranty, you may be able to get it repaired or replaced for free.

Honeywell thermostat

The wiring is correct but you have a programmable thermostat that needs to have a program to operate. The manual for this particular stat is straight forward and uncomplicated. Enter the times and functions with the right button and up/down arrows then press "DONE" (Left Button) to get it started. Hope this helped. Roger

MY APARTMENT HAS ELECTRIC WATER BASEBOARD HEATING SYSTEM, I found out the heat cannot be turned off even I disconnect the honeywell thermostats (only one on the wall for the whole unit - living room and 2...

Okay couple questions here because either you have hot water baseboards or you have electric baseboard heaters.
- if the system is a hydronic baseboard heater fed form main boiler, usually this means your space heat is controlled by a zone valve which the zone valve is controlled by your thermostat.
-if you find the zone is controlled by a zone valve than it is possible the zone valve is defective causing hot water to bleed past the zone valve even though your t-stat is telling it to close.
- first find out what excatly the baseboard is heated by either water or electricity
-next personal message me and I can walk you through it

I have a new Honeywell Round Non-Programmable Heat Only thermostat MFG # T8775A1009. I turned it down to 50 degrees. The room temp. is reading 70 degrees and heat is coming out of my baseboards. Why is...

Make sure the switches on the back of the thermostat is set for hot water heat. If you have more then 1 zone you may a stuck zone valve or a short in the wiring somewhere keeping the boiler on.

Replacing WHITE-RODGERS manual thermostat with 3 wires ( red, white, blue and installing Honeywell electronic thermostat RTH110B, how do I connect it? The heating is not central, baseboard heating.

I have only seen one Honeywell thermostat that would work with a 3-wire heating system.

I would replace it with a White-Rodgers 1F80-0471. They are about $100, but they are a good thermostat, and they work well with the 3-wire zone valves.

Most other thermostats have the "Y" terminal that you need, but do not control the zone valve correctly.

Furnace firing. Plenty of hot water. No heat.

Most Boiler and zone controlled systems I can remember working on with up to 8 or so zones, the Bell&Gossett circulating supply pumps or pump ran all of the time to keep the upstairs baseboards warm.If you have a relay that controls the pump, see if you can bypass it and if it comes on, replace it. Be sure all of the coils on the zone valves are energized and opening, if it is set up that way.Get back to me and let me know.

Thermostat temperatures not reaching preset Energy Star settings

Well with a boiler system like you have it will cost you more money to heat your house that way than if you leave it like it is. With a boiler system it takes a lot longer to heat an area than with a furnace. The best thing you can do is find a happy medium and leave it there at all times. If you read the paper work on your new thermostats they have a set procedure which tells the thermostat if you have forced air or boiler system. Do you have baseboard or in-floor heat how many zones do you have.
