After a power cut the display on my American style fridge/freezer is flashing. I have switched the power off, left it for 10 minutes then switched it on again but the display still flashes. The power was off about 9 hours ago for a couple of hours - the food in the freezer appears to be frozen still. Will the fridge/freezer be working and is it just getting back to its temperature or is it broken.

Hi just wondering if you figured out the problem with your Samsung fridge yet.
It is definately a problem with the defrost part of the fridge. After approximately 4 to 10 hours dependent on many different factors it enters into defrost mode to get rid of any excess ice in both the fridge and the freezer. During the defrost stage the compressor will not run. If any fault occurs during the defrost stage the fridge will not restart unless you turn it off and back on again which restes the pcb and takes it out of defrost mode and the timer starts again.
Please let me know how you went with it.

in the freezer section there is a 6 screws. unscrew them and remove the back panel. there will be 2 wires attached to the panels, remember where they go. you will see a metal evaporator which will be filled with ice. this is the problem. use a hairdryer to melt the ice. this is essential as you mustn't puncture the wall of the fridge with any sharp item. before replacing the panel ensure that everything is dry or ice will reform, and also ensure that the fan blades are turning properly or cold air will not be blown into the fridge.
