SOURCE: Replacing a fuel line for a Poulan 2175 type 2 chainsaw

Take top cover off(3 screws). Take off the 2 nuts holding the carb on. Pull carb part way out to access the hoses. Remove the 3 old hoses after making a diagram of where they connect. Buy new hoses. Cut one end of the small hose on a bevel, pierce both sides 1/8 th inch from the end with a needle. Thread a thin wire through both holes. Thread both wire ends into the gas tank. Use a hemostat or long needle nose plyers to pull the wires and then hose down into the tank. Attach the weighted fuel filter. The other end of this smaller diameter fuel line goes on the upper nipple on the carb. Take the side cover off (4 screws) to access the primer bulb. Take 2 screws out to remove the bulb which has 2 nipples. The longer nipple connects to the larger diameter hose which goes to the fuel tank. The larger diameter tube has a coupler on the end which is inside the gas tank. It took me an hour to change all 3 hoses.

SOURCE: Just replaced fuel lines and

Line from fuel filter goes directly into the inlet of the carburetor and the line from the snap in bulb that is marked "in" attaches to the other outlet connector on the carb. Last is the long side of the bulb goes to the return on the gas tank. The snap in bulb sucks the gas but not directly from the filter hose, it does this through the carb as if it were trying to not only **** in the fuel but also removing the air trapped in the carb. You'll notice that the bulb has a **** side and a discharge side, and the **** side goes directly to the carb outlet connector. I tried to make this a clear as possible, and I hope it helps.

I replaced the fuel lines in a Husqvarna 235 chainsaw. It's starting but cutting off immediately. Will a return fuel line (from primer ball to tank) that is bigger in diameter prevent it from running?

No, check that the two fuel lines are not switched and fuel purge is working.

Easy way to test; Identify which line has the filter and disconnect the other (fuel return) at the carburetor. Then press purge bulb several times. Fuel should spurt out the fuel return port at the carb.

If no fuel spurt, move fuel line (with filter) to the other carb fuel port and repeat test. If still no fuel then purge is not working... either fuel not delivered from tank or carburetor is blocked or bad diaphragm or other.

I have a husqvarna 440 chainsaw I installed a new carb on it and.now I can't get the primer bulb to prime gas what gives?

https://www.partstree.com/models/440-e-husqvarna-chainsaw-2008-05/

The link shows components of the saw.

Three fuel lines...

1. Fuel tank dip tube (fuel filter) to siphon side of primer bulb

2. Primer output to carb in.

3. Fuel return to tank.

Likely you have reversed the primed bulb lines.
Disconnect the line from the primer bulb to the carb. If you have the correct connection from the tank to the primer bulb, fuel will spurt out the bulb as you press the bulb

If no fuel, move the line at the primer bulb to the other primer connection. Press primer bulb a few times and fuel should spurt out bulb.

If still no fuel then a problem with the fuel tank dip tube or plugged filter

The primer bulb on my Husqvarna 235e chainsaw will not fill. Why?

Number of reasons for the primer not filling, But i'll go with this one as you say the tank is under pressure.

Faulty primer. The primer has a couple of one way valves in it, so it sucks up the fuel while expelling the air in the line. Id say that the valve in the primer has failed and instead of pumping up the fuel you're pumping air into the tank. The replacing the primer. part number 545 00 80-30

After running for a bit it wont start, the primer is < a 1/4 full just sucking air.

this sort of sounds too me as A fuel line routing problem / as sometimes happens when replacing a old fuel line one doesn't get it back right as it was before and maybe runs line instead by a part that gets hotter than others , this causes fuel to boil in a hot saw and create a air pocket , this makes it near impossible to get liquid fuel to pass by it and blocks up the works , other thing it could be is that primer bulb has a tiny crack inside and allows air to enter and not fuel (heavier) ive seen that happen a few times as well

10+ year old husqvarna 345 chainsaw: Will not start or fire at all. Has new plug, lots of good spark at plug; have checked flywheel keyway to be sure timing is not off. Using starting fluid, engine will...

The fuel lines may have become airlocked. If the saw has a primer bulb, alternatively press it several times and then try to pull start the engine. Repeat this several times. The primer bulb should feel spongy and fill with fuel.
Check whether there is a vent on the tank or on fuel cap. There is usually a valve on this to allow air into tank to replace fuel as it leaves for the carburettor. Ensure this isn't blocked.
If you're up to it, you can dismantle the carburettor and clean any dirt from valves. The carburettors on chainsaws, hedge cutters etc are very fiddly with delicate diaphragms, valves and springs so you have to be careful to avoid damage or loosing parts.
Hope this helps !

How to replace the fuel primer bulb and fuel lines in McCulloch 3516 chainsaw? the fuel primer bulb broke and the plastic lines have crumbled. i need to know how to run the lines from the fuel tank to...

I just did a primer bulb not too long ago, but I don't remember what equipment it was on. They are generally easy to replace. First, remove anything that is retaining the bulb assembly, such as cover plate. On my Homelite chainsaw, I simply pried it out with a small screwdriver.
The replacement part itself has two barbed stubs that the two fuel line hoses push onto.
Make sure that you keep the fuel line tubes above the fuel level at all times to prevent leakage.

My husqvarna 61 starts fine and runs great for about 15 seconds and the it flat out stalls. Over and over this happens. what can i do?

Make sure the chain can be turned by hand and is well oiled. Check the muffler, fuel filter, and air cleaner for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines and primer button--does the primer pull fresh fuel into it when pumped? Check the carburetor fasteners for tightness including the mounting to the cylinder. If there is a rubber isolator between the carburetor and cylinder, check it for cracking or any holes. Make sure you are using modern synthetic saw oil in the fuel, not boat motor petroleum based oil. If still acting up, clean and re-kit the carburetor. Hope this helps!
