Emachines ET1331G-03w what function key will restore?

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2012

Restore the original factory software. See, I ended up having to download a copy of windows 7 ultimate online, awhile back, because, my computer went down and wouldn't boot. I lost my restore discs somehow in moving from PA to GA a few years ago

Hi there,

To install an IDE CD rom, you will need to open your computer and you will see an IDE Slot, your computer usually has two of them either directly next to each other or under each other, there is usually one white one and one blue one. IDE Slots look like this:
2604eb7.jpg

The white IDE Slot is usually for the Hard Disks and the blue IDE Slot id usually for the CD Roms.

The white IDE Slot is the Primary Slot and the blue is the secondary.

You will need an IDE cable to plug in to your blue IDE Slot then you will need to plug the cable in to your CD Rom and make sure that your CD Rom is set to run/work as the master. If your computer only has one IDE Slot or you do not have an extra IDE Cable you can plug the CD Rom in to the Primary IDE Slot with the Hard Disk assuming you are only using one Hard Disk.

If you are going to use the Primary IDE Slot you will need to make sure that your CD Rom is set to run/work as a slave and it must not be set as the master. The way to change it is by moving the pins at the back of the CD Rom, they are found at the back next to the place where you plug the IDE Cable in to or next to the power input. You will be able to tell if your CD Rom is set as a slave or as a master by checking the image on the top part of the CD Rom, this image will tell you how to set your CD Rom as a master or as a slave.

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution.

Warm regards,
BearWeb

I would check all the slots if that is the only slot giving you problems then that slot may be bad.

IT SHUTS OFF AT BOOT UP

Hi
It seems like Operating System failure. Most probably corrupt system files.
  • Try removing the hard drive and re-connecting it.
  • You can also connect the hard drive to another machine (as a slave) for automatic repair.
  • Or run an Original Windows disk and select 'repair' (R) on first page.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Yesterday my friends emachine ET1331G-03w just bought 2 months ago, due to microsoft software updates issues upon restarting her computer won't start windows due to problem above, we tried to do f8 on...

As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have
them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different
driver or some other small issue.
