The IAC may be the issue.

I removed it and cleaned it. It ran OK until I tapped it with my screwdriver. The RPMs shot right up and I could hear the air rushing through. My scanner showed that the voltage to the IAC did not change. I pinched the hose that comes off the intake to feed the IAC and the throttle dropped to normal levels.

Either your throttle cable or throttle plate is sticking. This most likely do to moisture on the cable or in the mechanism freezing do to the cold.

THERE SHOULD BE A CABLE THAT GOES FROM THE THROTTLE BODY DOWN TO THE TRANS MAKE SEE IF IT IS NOT MOVING THEY WILL STICK ON THE TRANS AND THE CLIP WILL BRAKE AT THE THROTTLE BODY

You need to check the Idle Control module.
I think it is sticking closed. Is the check engine light on ? Is the fuel pressure good ? Is the gas gage reading the correct amount of fuel in the tank? Did you tune up the vehicle lately ? Is the throttle body full of carbon ? You need to have the vehicle check by your local mechanic.

Back fire while driveing

check for vacuum leaks at your throttle body, intake manifold gaskets and vacuum line, or you could possibly have a sticking valve. if I am understanding you rite the truck sat for 2 years. also check the wiring to your sensors as for a rodent may have chewed some insulation off, this happened to my sons car.
