This is a problem I haven’t stumbled on before and it bugged me so I have a suggestion.

-         Open the Control Panel (generally on the Start menu)
-         Open the Regional and Language folder
-         Click on Languages tab
-         Click on Details

See if the keyboard layout is set to ‘US.’

Now, what I don’t seem to find is how to choose something different without actually changing ‘Language’ itself.

Win ‘Help’ gave this result when searching on “changing keyboard language:”

“You can switch to a different keyboard layout or enter text in other languages without changing keyboards. However, the key labels may no longer match the characters you are entering. Use Regional and Language Options in Control Panel for changing languages and keyboard layouts.”
If this does or doesn't work, please post back as it might help others either do what you want to do or avoid paying any attention to me <grin>

Forgot to suggest this in the original; see if Acer will send you the key caps so the characters on the keys now correspond to what they now do.
I've had luck with this kind of request on a couple of occasions with other companies.

Sounds like a Frenck keyboard, evel things to type on.
try goin into settings and changeing the keyboard language to english
if that dosn't work get tipex find out what each key dose and change it XD
or a better sugestion, I assume that your keyboard has a C type jack and is
going into a purpel port on the back of your computer? what you could try doing
is getting a normal 2.0USB keyboard.
That should solve your probelem as the drivers should be installed into the
keyboard.
Id recomend a "Genius" -cheapest option
or a "Logitec" -a bit more expensive but still good value and way better

I have a Logitech cordless ex110 keyboard that I would like to find an online manual for....I have no idea what the 'F' keys do and every once in a while I hit something (?) that converts my /,...

Did you install the Logitech Set Point software? If you did, you can edit the Function key assignments by opening that program. There are other ways to change your keyboard settings, pressing Left Alt and Shift can do this with Windows 7 by default. To check this in Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel. Under Clock, Language, and Region select Change Keyboard or other Input method. Once that window opens, click on the Keyboards and Languages tab and click Change Keyboards. Then select the Advanced Key Settings tab. There is a section marked Hot Keys for Input Language.

The manual and other documentation for the Logitech ex110 is available here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/433/154?selectedcrid=433&selectedcid=154&WT.z_sp=Product&osid=&bit= .

I hope this helps.

HOW TO GET MY LAPTOP TO STOP USING THE PINK ALTCAR

I found this on another website and it worked for me. Good luck.

Okay, I know this is an old question but when i searched for the same problem recently, it was the nearest I could find. So in case others are having the same problem:

The Vaio you have is a Canadian model, which has alternate keyboard drivers for English and French. The alt car key only works with the French keyboard (durr). To switch, press the LEFT control key and RIGHT shift key at the same time, then release. Now if you use the alt car key like the shift key, i.e. hold it down then press another key, you should be able to access the pink characters. To return to English keyboard, press left-ctrl and right-shift together again.

Where is the delete button on a french keyboard!

In wordprocessing or email the backspace key deletes the previous charachter and isnot the same as the Delete key which deletes the next charachter.

On my girlfriend's french pc the delete key is marked "Suppr". It works to delete the next character and also for the "executive override" function which will reboot an old pc or get you to Task Manager in windows.

Logitech cordless desktop mx 3200 laser keyboard - french characters

Its not the keyboard fault but your operating system. I'm going to assume you live in Canada and when you had setup the computer for the first time you had selected Canada has country you live in instead of the United States (default) If you notice on your desktop or taskbar there will be a keyboard logo. Click it and select US 101 keyboard (United states). You get the french symbols because microsoft thinks because you live in Canada you must be french canadian.... stupid eh! They have it selected to mulitlingual Canadian. Select the US English as default and you shouldn't get those french symbols when you really want the shift or question mark key.

I live in Canada and I see looks of people who ask me the same question all the time.

Hope this helps!

Keyboard

that means that the keyboard has been set to a different language. On my screen at the bottom right hand is a little keyboard icon and when i click on it it lets me scroll through US English, Canadian French and Canadian Multilingual Standard. If the keyboard is set to the Canadian French option (or whatever other option that is available on your keyboard in red characters) the number two button changes function.
