SOURCE: Audio driver installation problems

Did you do the install by clicking on the setup file?
The other way of installing is to do from the Device Manager and click on Update drive and direct it to the location where the driver file is stored on your computer.
If that doesn't work, get it to search the driver off the Internet.

I don't have sound on acer travelmate 7720 windows XP Pro.

Download and reinstall the driver.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com andin the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Downloadand install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It'sa very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formatsand media. It's totally FREE.

I have a Gateway MX6400 laptop. After I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP I lost the sound. Drivers are up-to-date and connfirmed. When I click on the speaker in the lower right corner I get, "No...

Look at the driver properties. I suspect a generic Microsoft driver has been installed and that driver doesn't work correctly. (Right click on the audio device from Device Manager and select Properties. Then check the Drivers tab. Look for the line with Driver Provider.)

I can't find a MX6400 listed on Gateway's driver site, http://www.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloads . There are the MX6410 and MX6420 listed. Both of these have a Conexant audio driver for XP and Vista. The Vista driver may work under Windows 7. (Make sure to correctly select the 32-bit or 64-bit depending on your OS version.) Download the driver and try to manually install it. If that doesn't work, try a Conexant audio driver from another laptop brand that is for the correct version of Windows 7. (Just Google Conexant audio driver Windows 7.)

I hope this helps. If you have a problem, please let me know what your Device manager claims the manufacturer is on the HD audio device and the driver manufacturer listed in the Properties. Also add a comment if you see any error messages when trying to install a new audio driver.

Reinstall xp pro on my asus motherboard P4S333M, after reinstall all seems to be ok except the sound/audio. on device manager I get a yellow marking "!" and on properties it says CODE10 CANNOT...

Seems the problem in your Audio Driver. Here's some steps that you could try :
1. Microsoft recommends that when this happens, you click "Update Driver" to update the drivers for the device in Device Manager.
2. based on my research the audio card is C-Media 8738 (not 9738) download the latest driver from here : http://www.cmedia.com.tw/EN/DownloadCenter_Detail.aspx?pserno=0&dtype=ALL

I disabled the audio device for the computer and now I don't have sound, and it says "No audio devices are installed." What should I do?

I don't quite understand the way you disabled the Audio Device. Did you do it from it's Properties? Well, if it's true, you might have uninstalled or deleted the Sound Driver. To restore the sound, you'll need to reinstall the Sound Driver.

This is the sound driver for your laptop (Windows Vista) [Click Here] Open the link and click "Download" to begin download. Download and install.

Click Here to download windows xp conexant high definition audio driver for Compaq Presario 700 series Notebook.

If you have problem, let me know [with more details].

Good Luck.

No audio on my newly installed xp software

If you can see an error in device manager its means the audio driver is not installed. You need to installed the audio driver. The audio driver is in the CD installer of your motherboard.
