SOURCE: Does the lemon law cover air conditioning units?I

as a general rule the lemon law does not effect acs. because the equipment colud be at fault, or the installer couild be at fault , or the installation or application coiuld be at fault, or the power company could be at fault or the ductwork inadquete or undersized? so there are so many variables that a new ac may not fix your problem so they rarely ever provide new.now lets discuss your insatller or dealer. why are they saying the rev valve is bad? let me say covs Changeover valves usually do one of three things. they stick in cool and wont shift so youare stuck in cool or sruck in heat. when energized you hear no kawhoosh sound and compressor doesnt change pitch. then they are stuck in heat or cool. what they do sometimes is stick halfway and that gives a coolish suction and a coolish line to the house but not real cold. the hot gas line is only warm and the discharge line is onlty warm. this means its stuck halfway. some times you can disconnect the fan run the pressures way up and gently tap the valve and it will free up. but it nay stick agagin. the valves in the compressor may also be weak and be misdiagnosed as as half stuck covalve.. you could close off the liquid line and see if the compressor cah pump down to zero . if it can't then compressor maY BE BAD .when the unit was installed did they put in a liquidline drier to collect impurities and protect the valve? its pretty unusual to see a valve fail and if to much heat is applied on replacement then new valve can be damaged. good luck , oh you have the option of requesting a different dealer if it is brand name like trane or american std with a parts and labor warranty. most dealers can honor the other guys warranty and get paid by the factory if you have lost confidence in your guy. i am sure you know right away if you got a budget jack leg job or a pro . good luck.

SOURCE: unit starts and stops to often

No this is not normal. You have a problem refered to as "short cycling". This is an indication of low refrigerant charge. You need to have the unit leak checked, repaired and recharged,

I have removed front cover on amana model ptc153b35am unit says it has got a manaul reset for heater cannot locate it can you help

The manual reset is a small switch on the computer control board. If that doesn't fix the problem, while you are there, you will see 2 small black boxes wired into the computer board marked "heater 1" and "heater 2". These are relays, one of which has probably gone bad. You can either order a computer board for about $100 or replace the relays yourself with a soldering gun. You can order the relays for $4.02 apiece from Digi-key Corp. Part # is JTN1aS-PA-F-DC5V for the relay.

Where is the Manual Heater Reset Switch on an Amana A/C and Heater Unit Model number PTH093B35AJ? The unit has several stickers that state it has a "Manual Heater Reset Switch".

Almost certainly it is a bad relay on the circuit board. Sometimes you can slap the side of the unit by the control box to temporarily unstick the relay, after which the heat will come on for a cycle or two. There are two relays on the circuit board marked "heater 1" and "heater 2". You can order a new circuit board for about $100 or replace the relays at $4 apiece (order online from Digi-Key, requires solder connections). Part number JTN1a-PA-F-DC5V.

Got stuck in the heat dry cycle and cannot turn off

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description it is likely a faulty control board, unfortunately. Here's what you can do to check...

**Turn off any power to the unit...safety first**

You'll need to access the control, this is best done by way of removing the front panel, i.e.

macmarkus_64.jpg
Once to this point, identify the wires on contact PF2 and inspect the closest relay to it, which will be K1.

If you are capable, measure amperage from PF2 when the unit is idle there shouldn't be power present, you'll require an ammeter.

I would also check the back of the control ( green part with silver solder ) to inspect the pathways of the heater thermistor circuit. Follow from the thermistor connector at P7 along to the relay...see the image here.

macmarkus_67.jpg

Having said all that, it may be obvious when you visually inspect the control, if it's burnt up or if the relay looks burnt inside ( beyond normal open & closing arcing ).

This is an example of a damaged control but it may not be as extreme with a heater relay defective...

macmarkus_65.jpg
Let me know what you find and I'll try to help you further if necessary. For the control should be available at "repairclinic.com"...but if not let me know I may have one left.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Whirlpool model MH7100XYQ microwave, exhaust fan

sometimes the control board will short out and not let the fan or cook top light work.
if you want to try and remove the control board, look on the back of the board for any burnt off tracers. those are the wiring connections on the board that move power from a wire to a relay.
it is usually easy to see the burnt out piece, and if you can solder a new wire across where the burnt out part is, then it should work ok again.
if you cant solder, then a new control board will cost about 125-150 bucks.

Westinghouse sb915 will not heat element shows 25 ohms when tested.

Westinghouse SB907 had same problem, which I had thought might be the heating element. Fixed relay soldering on PCB where it was burnt/melted, now works! This probably applies to the Westinghouse SB925 also.

Burners and oven not heating tappan range 560s111po1

You need to check the connection at the back of the unit that hooks to the house power. Turn off breakers or pull fuses before checking. It sounds like you only have half of the voltage you need. One of the wire connectors may be burnt or you may have a problem with the house wiring.

Bosch sgs5312gb/07 dishwasher not getting hot - was stuck on rince mode - have got it off that setting - tried to use it - stays on wash and is not getting hot

If you open up the control panel (access by removing the front door panel) you'll find a circuit board and the relay. I suspect you'll find that a solder joint on the relay has burnt out - if so, easy to fix with a blob of solder - good luck
