Blue ray wont play movies on new tv

We just bought an insignia 1080 P lcd tv. We hooked it up to a PS3, it will play games but not a blue ray movie. the tv says mode not supported.

What connection/interface are you using between the PS3 and your tv? With the PS3, you have to tell it what connection you are using. It might have separate settings between the BluRay side and the Game side.

Are you sure the tv is 1080p capable? Usually when "mode is not supported" is displayed, it means that the tv can not handle the signal format that is being input to it. If you are using HDMI, then signal formatting is usually handled automatically. If you are using component video, you will probably have to tell the PS3 to step down the signal to either 1080i or 720p.

Bought a blue ray movie to try out on ps3 now it asks for an encryption key, wth? i don't hook my ps3 to inter net, but asking for a system software update to renew encryption key to play blue ray

-= Renew PS3 Encryption Key =-

If i was you i wouden update. the latest update sony have provided is causing alot of problems, such as not being able to read blue-ray movies and games. (3.00/3.01)

I know you dont see it this way, but i acaully see you as a very lucky person that you havent updated your machine yet, my ps3 dont work anymore after i updated, or it does work, but it just cant read any blueray games or movies.

But if you have a ps3 slim you probaly wont have this problem, its more older models that suffer under this bug. :(

i dont know what your current firmware is, but if its way below 2.80, then your still in the safe zone, cuz if you own a usb memory stick you can transfer the 2.80 update to ( USB-ROOT\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP ) and then unplug it from your computer and insert it into your ps3 and then try the update from local storeage.

i hope you can use this :o)

Blue rays not playing and screen says no signal

This is blue ray lens failure. this optical Assembly has two separate reading lenses. there is one designated for Cd audio and CD_ROM reading and, the other is blue ray compatible. the blue ray lens in inoperable at this point. you will need to replace this lens assembly.

Tried to hook up blue ray player but it say mode not supported. It is a PS3 and will playj games but not blue raqy movies.

First of all, you have to tell the PS3 what connection you are using. Next, the Blu-Ray format is encoded in 1080p, so if your tv does not support 1080p you will have to go in to the setup menu on the PS3 and tell it to use a format your TV can handle.
