I have a Transaxle that had a broken Ring Clip in the transmission. I replaced the clip and reassembled. Everything back in place and filled with oil. Wheels run if I hope the belt in but if I use the Clutch/Brake it kills the engine. Not sure how to properly set the brake or if it is even working properly down on the right lower side if the transaxle. Is there a manual that would cover this?

iFixitI have an older Murray riding lawn mower, whenever I engage the mower the engine dies, otherwise it runs .... My dr feild brush mower ... cuts off when I engage theblades. ... My Huskee only shut off once I put it in drive with the blade engage.
there is a safety switch under the seat. to stay running after the brake is released or deck engaged you have to be sitting on the seat or it will die. if this switch is bad it will die as soon as you release the brake.
Many folks have found that a defective relay in this mower to be the cause of the "stall when i take my foot off the clutch" issue. The relay is connected to the safety switches which turn the mower off when no one is in the seat, etc.
If electrical ( the motor shuts down like you turned the key off) its likely the rider presence switch ( seat switch).
If the motor is pulled down and dies as if its uncapable of handling the load check the drive system. Remove deck and check drive belt and pulleys. Pull the belt off of a pulley for slack and with the tranny in first and the brake released you should be able to turn the large pulley on top of the tranny easily which should cause the tractor to start to move. If you cant turn the pully there is something wrong in the tranny.
I would check the wires and clean the connectors and make sure seat switch is working. If that is not working, it's like getting off the seat without holding the brake/clutch pedal down or getting off seat with blades engaged. Both will cause engine to die.
It may think you are in reverse and is killing the motor to keep you from backing up with the blade running. Look for switch that is telling it when you are in reverse, maybe it is stuck with grass or other debris. another possibility is that the blades are jammed and they are stalliing the motor. Mines stalls easily when cold.
