The Red, green, blue from this adaptor cable
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB128LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MjE4ODM1NQ

go into any of the RGB inputs on the Onkyo

The R/W go into the corresponding inputs for audio, Red and White.

One thing to note,

IF you are running one source RGB like you want to do,
you may have to monitor output the video of the amp RGB to the TV, most of these amps do not like to mix HDMI with anything else.

So If you have one HDMI going out to the TV, this solution will not work. You should look at the manual for the Onkyo regarding what paths can pass at the same time. There is usually a small disclaimer in the HDMI section.

Hope that solves your question.

Bose Cinemateonnect

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

d21fa99.jpg
b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPE OUT (or the AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How To Connect Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod To The TV

The following devices have support for TV out:
  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • iPod touch
  • iPod nano (3rd generation and later)
  • iPod classic, iPod (5th generation), and iPod photo
Note: Other iPod models may support viewing of photos or slideshows on the iPod display but do not support TV out.
The following docks support TV out when used with an iPod model or iPhone that supports TV out:
  • Apple Universal Dock (requires either the Apple Composite AV Cable or the Apple Component AV Cable-will not work with the iPod AV Cable). Search the store for part number MB125G.
  • iPod Universal Dock or iPod with color display dock (iPod photo dock)
Important: The iPhone dock does not support TV out.
iPod models that support TV out can support viewing on a television in several ways. Use the tables below to see which cables and docks can be used with each iPod model. Check the documentation that came with the cable or iPod for information on how to connect and enable TV out.
Note: If you choose to use a third-party cable, make sure it has the "Works with iPhone" or "Made for iPod" label. Learn more about iPod and iPhone accessories.

All you need to get TV out is a compatible iPhone, iPad, or iPod and the correct cable. If your device works with the component and composite cables, then the choice depends on the TV(s) you will be connecting to.

  • Apple Composite AV Cable (part number MB129LL) will connect any iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your TV using RCA Cables.
  • Apple Component AV Cable (part number MB128LL) will connect any iPhone, iPad, or iPod (except iPod with color display (iPod photo), and iPod (5th generation)) to your TV using Component Cables.

A dock can be a welcome addition if you're going to keep your cables connected to the TV. The Apple Universal Dock includes an Apple Remote so you can pause and adjust the volume from a distance. The docks and cables are sold separately.

Is OSD set to ON? See below

Set the OSD (onscreen display) mode before you start using the RI Dock. 1. Plug in the AC adapter. 2. Turn on your TV and amp, and select the appropriate inputs on your TV and amp. 3. Insert your iPod into the RI Dock. 4. Select the video output mode depending on the video connection. While pressing the remote controller's [SETUP] button, press the Up [ ] button for the component video connection, press the [ ] button for the composite (default) connection. 5. Use the remote controller's [MODE] button to set the OSD mode. On: Playlists (artists, albums, songs, and so on) are displayed on your TV, and you can navigate and select your music or video while looking at your TV. While this mode is selected, your iPod displays the Onkyo logo. Off: Nothing is displayed on your TV and you navigate and select your contents by using your iPod's display.

I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590 Blu Ray player via HDMI to pass through my Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver. I get video if I connect Blu Ray player directly to TV, and have tried all HDMI ports...

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

ONKYO TX-SR606 Single output to TV

Hi there. for your receiver, the only time it can upconvert is when you go out as HDMI. In your current hookup (component out to tv) the signal from your cable (using a composite) will not be able to pass through the component cable. This means you either have to hook up your cable box using a component cable as well or add a composite cable (yellow) from monitor out of the receiver to the tv. Page 22 of the manual will show a diagram of the video signal flow. hope this helps.. ^_^

HDMI video not functioning on a new Onkyo TX-SR606

For me, it was the Monitor Out setting that had defaulted back to Component. I remembered to change the individual inputs to HDMI - but had forgotten to set the Monitor Out to be HDMI.

Onkyo tx-sr606 can not get it to work w tv using hdmi cables

try using a HDMI cable connecting the receiver from the "out" to the tv, then allocate through the setup menu what you have connected, say a cable box by hdmi, you would go to cable/sat allocate the port "hdmi1 or coax 1" then return. If it is a dvd click on dvd then allocate eg: "hdmi 2" then return.

Video thru Onkyo TX-RS606 is only black&white

are you using HDMI cables or component. First I would try unplugging the composite and component video cables while the receiver is off. Plug them back in and turn it back on. If that does'nt work try setting the receiver to factory default and redo the settings. You can find how to reset to default in your user manual.
